Not sure about doing it for a single assignment but they do say you can export the learning mastery gradebook as a csv to view all the outcomes. I’m curious what happens if you edit that and reupload it like you would traditional grade spreadsheets. It will probably work or break everything.

The push for higher ed to focus on job training is partially because employers have abdicated their responsibility to train new hires. An employee you invest time and money in training then has bargaining leverage. Employees that need no training can be replaced on a whim. That is the hidden goal.

Discworld QOTD, from The Wee Free Men
Witches are naturally nosy,” said Miss Tick, standing up. “Well, I must go. I hope we shall meet again. I will give you some free advice, though.”
“Will it cost me anything?”
“What? I just said it was free!” said Miss Tick.
“Yes, but my father said that free advice often turns out to be expensive,” said Tiffany.
Miss Tick sniffed. “You could say this advice is priceless,” she said, “Are you listening?”
“Yes,” said Tiffany.
“Good. Now...if you trust in yourself...”
“Yes?”
“...and believe in your dreams...”
“Yes?”
“...and follow your star...” Miss Tick went on.
“Yes?”
“...you’ll still be beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren’t so lazy. Goodbye.

We trust that mathematicians understand their writing and believe themselves correct. We may be wrong and there is definitely gatekeeping. But LLM’s have no concept of understanding. At best, the reviewer of the output would earn credit. Anything else is outsourcing the work but not the accolades.

This reads as our culture of openness enabled BigAI to pour venture capital into scooping human mathematicians. Scooping isn’t new. But if based on more than coincidence, it destroys working relationships. It would be a shame for this to introduce a protective culture around partial results.

Pedagogy is not some new, unsolved problem awaiting its Silicon Valley disruptor. If you want good teaching in any given subject, it’s there to be had. If you just don’t want to pay for it, then all we’re really talking about is how much you want something for nothing. That’s nothing new, either.

Why won’t the ebook just start at the cover?! I don’t want to miss anything. Scrolling through a few pages of front matter is not a difficult task. Bigger question, why won’t tech just let ME be in control?! Why are the only options “yes” or “not now” and what happened to “no”?
