The erasure project of TEEN QUEEN TRAINING, the newest book by Kristine Langley Mahler @suburbanprairie.bsky.social, transforms a 1960s etiquette guide for girls into a crackling, second-person narrative about what teenaged girls in America really experience. "The decision to close a university press has wide-ranging implications for not only the home institution & its reputation within the academic community but for the pursuit of intellectualism & critical inquiry in academia and beyond," writes Jeremy Chow @insidehighered.com.

Why Close Bucknell University Press? (opinion)
Erosions of shared governance, narrow definitions of “student-centeredness” and a broader abandonment of a liberal arts ethos all lie behind the closure announcement. In an Aug. 14 email, Bucknell University provost Wendy Sternberg notified the university community that Bucknell University Press would cease to exist at the end of the academic year. Without consulting BUP’s faculty editorial board, which oversees the press and falls under the auspices of the provost’s office, or Bucknell’s faculty or staff at large, the decision was rendered a fait accompli that blindsided the local Bucknell community as well as past, present and prospective BUP authors, editors and contributors.

VERY big announcement: we'll be opening a completely new genre for submissions, starting in April 2026, and we've got our editor all picked out! Help us welcome long-time novel/novella reader @erinvachon.bsky.social to the role of Multigenre + Chapbook Editor!
Photograph of Erin Vachon, with the text "Welcome to the Team, Erin Vachon, Multigenre + Chapbook Editor" alongside the Split/Lip Press logoExplanation of the Multigenre + Chapbook Submissions reading period, including the notice "Opening April 2026." The call states: If you thought Split/Lip already broke boundaries, we just got even weirder. While we will continue to accept boundary-breaking manuscripts across submission calls, we are hunting for the truly experimental and strange in our new Multigenre + Chapbook Submissions cycle. Coming April 2026, we’ll be looking for chapbooks (in all genres) as well as full-length hybrid manuscripts. Give us your collection of sonnets as visual objects. Family documents collaged against microfiction. Historical archive redacted into polyphonic novel. Your life story unfolded in burning haibun. We want your weird and your wondrous, your in-between manuscript you’ve always dreamed about publishing. Give us your very best and your strangest.Banner welcoming Erin Vachon, with their biography below: Erin Vachon is the Multigenre + Chapbook Editor for Split/Lip Press, the Multigenre Reviewer-at-Large for The Rumpus, and the Senior Reviews Editor for SmokeLong Quarterly.

Their writing appears in the Wigleaf Top 50, Black Warrior Review, SmokeLong Quarterly, The Pinch, Hayden’s Ferry Review, DIAGRAM, Brevity, and The Anarchist Review of Books, among others. Their work has been nominated for the Pushcart, Best of Net, Best Small Fictions, and Best Microfictions. They received their M.A. in English from the University of Rhode Island.
