The typical household gas bill has gone up by 33% since April. Clean renewable energy generation is Scotland's best path to energy security and lower bills.
Carbon Brief. Wind and solar save UK from gas imports worth £5.9bn during Hormuz crisis. Wind and solar have generated a record 41% share of the UK’s electricity needs in 2026 to date, compared with 25% from gas.

The proposals at Chapelcross will make it the largest data centre in the world. At its peak, it could be consuming the same amount of electricity as more than 2 million homes. Chapelcross cannot be built. The Government and Dumfries & Galloway Council must reject it. @scottishgreens.org

With bills constantly on the rise it's time to demand better. Greens have already secured a £2 bus fare cap for the Highlands and Islands, and in Strathclyde. We need the £2 bus fare cap to be rolled out across the rest of Scotland now!

This year we secured a £2 bus fare cap in the Highlands and Islands. That's now been extended to Strathclyde region. But the Government says it could take up to 5 years to get to the rest of Scotland. England will reduce their cap to £2 in January. Scotland shouldn't have to wait.

When operated at full capacity this data centre would use the energy equivalent to over two million homes. Its emissions would exceed the legal limit in Dumfries and Galloway by almost double. This application must be rejected.
STV News. Plans submitted for 'world's largest' data centre at former nuclear power station. The Scottish Greens have warned that the proposal would put a massive straight on Scotland's energy grid.

From what I can see in the article and video, the belligerent language in the headline wasn't actually used. I hope that's true. If the Government wants its Public Service Reform agenda to achieve anything positive, it will need an atmosphere of respect for public sector workers and their unions.
