Surely all development of large language models/AI should stop right now, & the efforts put into implementation of already fantastically productive AI functionality through companies/governments etc. Then we get the benefits without the risk Techies won't do this themselves. Nor will private equity

I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

Surely the Reform party political broadcast tonight was recorded as a tribute, but with an expectation that many would take from it that she was a martyr in the fight against the establishment etc. Ok n my opinion, she used to be ok/fine, then was radicalised with hate by Brexit.

As I board the ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki, I’m reminded yet again of three things about the EU: 1) You don’t sacrifice any of your national identity or culture by being part of the EU. Estonia remains Estonia. Finland remains Finland 2) Schengen is great. 3) Brexit was and is shit.

This is so, so bad. She’s taken the very narrow point that domestic drilling may result in oil and gas with a slightly lower carbon footprint than some imports and extrapolated it out to make sweeping claims about UK emissions increasing that are entirely false. So deeply unserious.

Burnham to focus defence depending on UK firms, the times reports. Good if he avoids US firms of course. But Europe needs to buy European, agreeing which suppliers will supply which defence sectors.On defence, playing the Buy British card seems to misunderstand what is needed from European countries

Heard LD MP on the Westminster Hour say maybe we should rethink the new jet fighter project, as no pilots will be needed soon. Similarly, maybe it's time to can Trident, since it's now clear the US has control of our not-so-independent nuclear deterrent? Do deal with France? Big savings?
