Where do you see the compromise between 'abortion is murder' and a woman's right to her own body? Because that's what we're looking at and I think it's pretty clear 'we' don't all want the same things.

Plague is endemic the US, though. There's a few cases every year. It's treatable now.

That's an excellent idea. Find people who are already at least partially involved in an illegal drug trade and take away the money they rely on and make them vulnerable to the people selling drugs. This is going to go great.

Somewhere out there Connie is working her tail off on her show wondering what it's going to take to get some Pastor's to reach out. She'd be a great second season arc for the show.

It's both amounts. The state was sued for negligence and the couple have to pay reparations. Both have to pay.

Misogyny killed Monica many years before she died
When poor Monica Coghlan died in a car crash last week, it was a result both pitiful and inevitable. The rightful order had been restored. Justice had been done. Her sad, brief life was over: she had ...

His example of misandry that 'really got him' was people noting that none of the men in the group chat who were told about the rape opportunity but did not take it, did anything to stop it. And that's why women 'choose the bear'. What a whiny little baby.

God, I wish. Ministers are still ministers until we have new ministers. Even though they often think everything shpuld come to a halt, it does not.

His "if this was my business and it was my money" shows how little he understands what makes government different to a business or household. If he believes that he shouldn't be in the job and if he doesn't, but knows it's what theyvwant to hear, it's worse.

it’s bad, actually, that much of the industry is gatekept by people whose standard for hiring a woman is “are you a Cool Girl who is into weird men doing sex stuff at her all the time?”

The most telling thing, for me, is that officials do admit much if the recent increase is to do with changes in reporting. But then just continue on as if it wasn't, as if these were new costs, rather than just existing costs now counted as OIA costs.

What do they mean by 'organic'? NZ organic farming criteria allows nitrogen in fertilizer. This feels like a bunch of money to farmers for no real change.

Happy Birthday. I have a girl version of your boy. Hope he gets to use the single brain cell all calico cats share more often that she does (two separate trips because she had two separate things stuck up her nose two different times).

The Flytrap has grown steadily over the past two years. We launched in October '24 with our flagship Tuesday newsletter, featuring worker-owners writing about pop culture, politics, games, books, and much more, through an intersectional + expansive feminist lens.

Its very odd that in a room full of people there's no comment from anyone else who was there. And there's no footage.

It's a small loophole. A department can't extend to cover their own resourcing gaps, but they can if they need to consult with another department and that department needs more time to cover their resource gaps. And if everyone is short of staff, then everyone's timeframes blow out.
020
Pāpango @papango.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
It's hard to know how much complaints will move that, as it's not the department being consulted who are hit. But eventually a trend might ve revealed.

Pāpango @papango.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Generally, everything takes longer since the mass lay offs. There's no depth, no contingency in any department. If I'm out for any reason, there's no one who can do a consult on the areas I covered, and it's the same everywhere.

I do think that is part of problem. The policies aren't explicitly racist, and that's where the looking ends. But if you're in the HQ lunchroom and comfortable loudly making racist remarks, you're in a racist organization. It gets swept aside as 'one bad cop', but it's tolerated.

He's almost certainly lying. I worked at NZ Police HQ for just a couple of years and more than once heard racist remarks from officers in lifts and the Cafe. It was not hidden, there was no concern about being overheard, there was no pushback.

When I babysit little kids they often want me to give their toys a kiss goodnight and tuck them in to bed, too. This is that, but for adults. Except no kid ever tried to convince me Teddy was smart, or could do my job. Still have to indulge the fantasy to keep the peace.

Yeah, it's tough to see someone going through it and turning away feels terrible. But, having had persistent delusions myself, engaging is validating the delusion. Especially since you are the target of their fixation. If you can't alert someone who can help, disengagement is the way.
