I'm proud to be on the Board of ALTA! This June we have a goal of 100 new / renewed / gifted memberships. To me, the best reason to join is that it's simply the best investment that you can make in these troubling times in a literary arts non-profit. Will you join ALTA by 6/30? tinyurl.com/4u83xd8s

I miss the dusty files of publishing yesteryears so I appreciate the Wiley Agency for having the 1950 original agreement for Thomas Merton's NO MAN IS AN ISLAND close at hand - a bit of lore for you, working title at contract stage was the somehow less iconic "The Life of St Allred."

Some two years ago, poet/translator Sholeh Wolpe and her agent Anna Gosh pitched me on a gifty introduction to Attar's spiritual poetry, translated by someone who actually knows Persian (unlike the beloved Coleman Barks Rumi translations) and today that gift is ready for you:
If these pages pointed you to the Path,
stripped the veil from your eyes,
or comforted your spirit,
then be generous to this poet in your thoughts.
(Poem printed on book page, book held in hand)Cover of hardcover book with gold foil accents and a cloth binding with this text on the front: The Invisible Sun: A Guide for the Soul from Rumi's Master by Attar, collected, edited, and translated by Sholeh Wolpe, published by HarperOne.
