It keeps the pressure up very slightly so air is always flowing outwards. They can have filters on them so the air coming in has fewer particulates. 100

I sleep with a CPAP machine and one of the best things I did was upgrade the standard crap air filter for a hypoallergenic pollen filtering one. So I get 8 hours or so of nicely filtered air overnight. Definitely helps a lot. 130
