DiCaprio is a little allergic to franchises and I respect an actor who has the willingness to take one on 010

Claremont is always human, almost embarrassingly so, and that's the key to his appeal. I'm regularly doing things that require like 30% of my strength, yet upon peeling open the safety seal on the goddamn foaming soap I'm still like, "I win" 2678

The Compact Comics don't quite work for Marvel in the same way - DC have just spent decades working on evergreen stories of 8-18 issues. They've got a bench. What Marvel does is runs, and this is what you get here. 815821

Oz The Mediocre @ozthemid.bsky.social · 08/10/2026The size of manga is probably the least important part of why it's successfully but it is an important part of why they are convenient and convenience matters so there's that. Oz The Mediocre @ozthemid.bsky.social · 08/10/2026The public consciousness is fickle and easily manipulated. They will watch anything as long as they think it is good. The alternative is that if you set up X-Men movies as the new MCU tentpoles you can rewire their thinking and trick them into believing Riot at Xavier's was a big bombastic story- 182
Oz The Mediocre @ozthemid.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I would argue that an overreliance of adapting event comics has put the MCU into an awkward position and that it should probably stop doing that. There are plenty of grand stories that are not event comics and it is a shame that the Avengers movies have largely ignored that 0131
Oz The Mediocre @ozthemid.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I believe it has been mentioned on more than one occasion by Brevoort that synergy is largely a thing that happens within Marvel Comics to capitalise on what is happening in the MCU. The new corporate structure probably means that it is easier for that to happen way less now because all parties are- 1100

Oz The Mediocre @ozthemid.bsky.social · 07/10/2026What makes Absolute work might not necessarily make Midnight work but even Absolute books like Absolute Green Lantern, Flash and to an extent Superman use origin stories for the opening arcs 010
Oz The Mediocre @ozthemid.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I think there are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches.
