The “new” Fall album is very okay. Definitely the most competent thing Ed Blaney’s been involved with (faint praise lol). Guitar playing is especially un-Fall like.

RIP Cronos, there are too many Venom albums but those first few are glorious filth. Wouldn’t have a whole world of punk and metal without them.

Caught Swedish sax player Elin Forkelid’s set at Copenhagen Jazz and shit was so good I had to buy the CD. Sax/Bass/Drums/Guitar/Vibes quintet with some nice Coltrane explorations.

Elin Forkelid CD called “Plays For Trane”

a celebration of 100 years of John Coltrane. one of the earliest mentions of him in print: the Louisiana Weekly of 15 January 1949. And Ralph Gleason's praise from the SF Chronicle, 15 Sept 1960

"Eddie Vinson's New 'Kid' Band Is Sensational," with Coltrane listed along with James Young, James Rhodes, William Garland and John Coles

Happy 100 to John Coltrane, one of the greatest things to come from the godawful US of A (along with baseball, Black Flag, and the US postal service). My appreciation and enjoyment of his music grows every single day.

Good watching a video for a song you like on youtube as it means you then get bombarded with suggestions for related videos with people's faces 'reacting' to songs and 'video essays' with clickbait titles that bear no relation to any kind of reality involving the band or their history

Barry Smith's drawing of Bran Mak Morn looks like Miles Davis in the 1970s after some trad-jazz diehard has told him that this new funk direction is utter garbage.

An ink-and-watercolour drawing of Robert E. Howard's Pictish king, Bran Mak Morn, seen striding through a desolate northern landscape with rain coming down at an angle. Bran Mak Morn is wearing a cloak and a silver circlet around his head, and pulling out a dagger from his robes with his right hand.
