A microcosm within a microcosm, Bugram Agar is the Karamouski crown jewel for game and opulence. The Hotel hosts the Opal Casino, thermal pools heated by fiends in captivity, a grand auditorium entertaining exclusive concerts and plays, a pleasure dungeon and, perhaps most importantly,

Utmost privacy.

The building perches alone on a reserved cliffside, away from all the buzz, low-lives and unexpected smells of the big city. A gilded cablecart, privately operated, fetches the richest of the rich to and from the nearest district of Portnova, way above the underground clouds, up into luxury nirvana. Please take your sick philter, enjoy the complimentary aphrodisiac and avoid looking down at the 300 meter tall fall.

Tonight, a great tragedy is set to take place. For the first time in centuries, a mythical, near-indestructible defense automaton named Otto Number 9 will be seen by the public eye, and more: it will be the centerpiece of Bugram Agar’s bi-annual, highly-anticipated Grand Auction.

But no one could predict the Machine would awaken from its thousand-year slumber.

It is now up to the Party to put a stop to Otto’s carnage, or simply make it out alive, all the while three tonnes of rogue metal rampage the carpeted halls of Bugram Agar.

Traditionally, Carverine engrave their tusks with biographical glyphs and runes, so that their bones may tell stories of who they were in life. In more cosmopolitan settings, however, tusk engraving often serves less ritualistic, more decorative purpose, akin to some human tattoos.

This is a mixture of digital and traditional process. First I edited a photo background and added a digital line sketch, which I got printed on imitation canvas, and then finished by painting the character with acrylics. The piece is pretty big - 104 x 139 cm.

The background is a photo of an old wine basement, appearing like a cave with brick walls. I edited it to get a blue and green-yellow palette.

The character is sitting on the floor in the center of the cave, grinning. The nose, mouth and eyes are the only other part of this piece that was done digitally, as I was unsure if I could paint the sharp edges of the design.
He's wearing a hooded cape, which gives the impression of an invisible coat, as its colours reflect the colour of the background in a blurry way. He's wearing a black shirt which extends into a loin cloth with a green, zig-zag edge. The shape of the hood covering his face is a heart. His face is partially shadowed, while red fiery hair is sticking out on the leftside.

He's wearing gauntlets, which are shaded in much more delicate detail than the rest of the character. The metallic shading also extends to the wavy-bladed sword. His boots are red and black, with a somewhat checkered pattern.

Behind him is a wall which is transparent in the middle, having a dreamlike impression. On the wall of the cave which took on the greenish-yellow tint in the photomanipulation process, I painted a torch with a green flame. On the upper left part of the painting is a yellow moon crescent.

Lastly on the top right edge of the painting are a couple of crystals, catching the colours of their surroundings, which makes them almost invisible until you notice them. I really love how these turned out.
