Hello poetry friends. Does anybody want the use of a house on the outskirts of Winchester between the middle of July and the first week of August? It comes with this gorgeous cat (Maurice) who needs feeding and the odd stroke. The house has two double bedrooms and a writing shed in the garden Ollie

The Kathryn Bevis Memorial Poetry Competition (1)
11 judges and 370 wonderful poems and many difficult decisions later we have chosen our winners and highly commended poems. First though, we would like to thank everyone who submitted and supported this project to remember our friend and poet Kathryn Bevis. We were delighted with the response. We would also like to thank The Writing School Online and The Alchemy Spoon for their support. Our four winners will be published in the next edition of The Alchemy Spoon and there will be an online event with readings from the winners. We are also pleased to have been able to donate £300 each to Jane Scarth House and Victoria's promise, two charities that supported Kathryn.

Difficult... but the book I read and read the most this past year has been The Butterfly House by Kathryn Bevis. I like poetry books because you can dip in and out, read and re-read a particular poem, etc. So works well for me.

I'm marking the end of the year in which the poet Kathryn Bevis died, far too young. I wrote a poem for her, which she knew I was doing but never saw. It's going to be published on Poetry Wales' site (they were early supporters of her work) – not sure when. Wanted to say, before this year turns.
Kathryn Bevis, who died in May 2024, looking directly at us. The picture was taken outside, and she wears a blue woollen hat and purple scarf. She has long brown hair and is smiling broadly.
