A really phenomenal night last night. A huge thank you to the team who pulled together the Mercury Awards and the fringe over the past week. For a second year in a row the blossoming Newcastle & North East music scene was put on the map. All great nominations, tho Raye was a very deserving winner

Two gas crises within a decade with no end in sight — and still, some think gas heating is the answer. China’s EV wave started with subsidies, now they’re reaping the benefits. Greg writes on how Britain’s got to back itself on heat pumps 👇

Why do these people desperately want to stoke fires. They’ll also be the first to wring their hands when everything kicks off and say ‘’how did we let this happen? Nobody could have m predicted this would happen in the UK?’ Mysteriously these articles will probably also disappear too.

On the doorsteps in the run up to May, I spoke to a gentleman who came out with this exact phrase. In his words (and I quote) ‘asylum seekers should be rounded up and put in concentration camps’ My response was to snap back ‘that’s vile, racist and you need rethink’. He looked back shocked at me

I would buy some land, build my own eco brutalist house, grow fruit and vegetables throughout the year and run a cookery school for people to come, cook and socialise.
A photo of an eco brutalist house taken from Google (caveat, the image could be AI generated).

There is a brick tiled floor, with a concrete bench to the left hand side. Then there is a full wall of angled glass. There are growing beds throughout the brutalist concrete property.

A really interesting thread. It devastates me that racism has become so normalised in this country. Even yesterday. Walking through town with my show racism the red card badge on, I got called a ‘traitor’. For what? Wanting all people to have the right to exist &live their lives safely & in harmony

It’s grim seeing screenshots like this. Racist rhetoric from anyone is unacceptable, let alone an elected councillor. Kenton, you need to turn up and vote him out in May. Only 31% of people who voted actually wanted him as their councillor. Thats just 13% of the total electorate.

Well I’ve marked my Dott on the map! 10 minute cycle from home to the city centre. Took a lovely sunny cycle through Wingrove and Arthur’s Hill, down to St James’ and then along Gallowgate. 50p cheaper than the bus at standard price, and this journey was actually only £1 with a week long pass.
