I'm increasingly wondering whether #safc had awful luck in playing #ManCity when we did and they're now due for an implosion with all their troubles....

Sign spotted in Mumbai. Bravo for the enthusiasm but I'm not sure that is the correct thing to do if you want a car to move?

Protestors at Dover today. Interestingly the radio didn't say what they were protesting. So I was curious. Stop oil? Fascists? Outside guess for Palestine related? The they said they were all men, dressed in black, wearing balaclavas. Ah. So far right it is then.

Went to the Washington Metro open event today. Some interesting bits. Like Biddick Hall was looked and and dropped due to over capacity on the NCL-Sland line, Penshaw is being looked at by a seperate GBR Leamside South project which will have mainline trains to Sunderland, transit oriented dev=yes.

Metro station announcement. "Bikes are only allowed on our trains at non peak times. This means bikes are not allowed before 10am and between 3 and 7pm" ...why bother saying peak times? Why not just say bikes are only allowed between 10 & 3 and after 7?

Today I learned. There's a Lidl pub in Northern Ireland because alcohol licensing laws over there are very different (and warrant more investigation).

Doesn't it suck when random infrastructure gets plonked on a bike lane with zero consideration.

In newcastle city centre they've a little play area for young kids over summer. I particularly noticed this fake bus stop.... As it's so much better than any real bus stops we have. Really hope the current consultation sees a proper official bus map becoming widespread. Amongst other things.

Spotted in the wild. This fellow has a 18th century union flag flying from his house. So many questions. Does he hate the Irish or love the Irish? Did he get it cheap? What are his views on the taxation of gin?

Yep. This is so much of right wing thinking and why they fail to understand people on the left. They expect things to fit into strict categories. Anything fuzzy and between strict groupings, especially binaries, flies against their world view and cannot be grasped.

So the football season starts with the League Cup... This seems bad both for the season starting with a stutter and for further entrenching the Cup being treat as a pseudo friendly until the final rounds.

Brilliant. Woke has always been a nonsense word that just means "thing that is different to when I was young therefore bad". Here it is being shown in expert fashion. Deform are woke.

It's amazing it's not until I was in my 30s that streets named e.g. Durham Road were so named because they were the main road to that locally major place. Such common sense. But missed.

When I was a kid it was the rule that if beans were not Heinz then they weren't to be touched. They would be horrid. Now it is the rule that Heinz isn't to be touched. They cost 2-3 times as much for the same thing. Did Heinz imitators just get better or have my standards dropped?

So Burnham and ending rough sleeping.... A very cunning promise? It sounds like an impossible prob.. But you're actually only talking 5000 people (5000 too many) and LAs have had 0 rough sleep policies. Trouble is numbers vs. vibes. Even if sleeping in a shelter people will beg with sleeping bag.

Aye. Argentina is definitely going to be punished for pushing imperialist claims at world cup. Just imagine any other country did something like this... Oh no wait. You don't have to imagine. Just look at what happened with Albania and Serbia. Stadium closures, games forfeited, heavy fines.

To fix problems on the A1 in Northumberland the solution is using the money to.... 1: Quad track the ECML in Newcastle to allow for more local services to Northumberland 2: Add roundabouts where local roads intersect with the A1 3: Clearly signpost 2 Lane sections are short over taking stretches.

Thinking about it. Argentina are the footballing equivalent of Reform. Bizare nationalist vitrol is the norm. Constant cheating and minor attacks on the opposition. Just hoping for the moment they get a little back so they can cry foul and play the victim.

Been doing a lot of thinking of how British planning is such a mess lately. It's really weird how we ended up with the worst of both worlds isn't it? The pre war free for all created reams of horrific sprawl paving over the country and destroying community cohesion. Valid to want to tackle this.

It's telling that the US had it's 250th anniversary. The US. A country famous for over the top nationalist flag waving America fk yeah sort of stuff. You'd think this would be their time. And the main image coming out of it is a stagnant pool full of algae.

Lets settle this whole "What is North" thing once and fall. As everyone knows the long established historic precedent was based around the grand border city of York. North Yorkshire and counties north of York= The North The rest of Yorkshire= The Midlands Left over parts of England = The South

It's odd that Deform have decided they hate HMOs now. Though clearly for totally the wrong reasons. HMOs are like Food Banks. A huge flashing light there's a problem*. But absolutely not a problem to be banned in themselves. *housing. Not immigrants. Obviously.

Do whatever it takes so pubs and cafes become significantly cheaper whilst alcohol in shops becomes more expensive. It's setup in such a way the towns 20th kebab shop and massive chains benefit significantly less than independents.

Garffeld
Three panel comic of an homage to the first Garfield strip, but Jon is a monk and Garfield is a medieval rendering of a cat. In the first panel, Jon says, “HWÆT, LAM JON ARBUCKLE. I AM A MONK, AND THIS MY CATTE, GARFFELD.” In the second panel, Garffeld is thinking, “ HWÆT, I AM GARFFELD. I AM A CATTE, AND THIS IS MY MONK, JON.” In the last panel, Jon says, “OUR ONLY THOUGHT IS TO GLORIFY GOD.” Garffeld thinks, “FEDE ME.”

Swing Bridge = example of penny wise, pound foolish thinking. Last renovated 15 years ago. At the time it had a caretaker who was due for retirement soon after. He complained at the time they hadn't hired a replacement. Port of Tyne saved a salary... Though are now liable for a hefty repair fee.
