When some people see a Black pilot or a woman astronaut, they think, “Oh, they aren’t qualified.” When I see a Black pilot or a woman astronaut, I think, “Wow, they had to work their ass off twice as hard to get here —now that’s being more than qualified.”

The core operational beliefs of any billionaire system were and are: 1) that wealth should come to the wealthy as much as possible and by any means, and
2) that any wealth going anywhere else represents a violation demanding immediate redress, and therefore; 3) any attempt to stop this robbery, no matter how virtuous, is theft demanding punishment, and ; 4) any attempt to stop the punishment, no matter how peaceful, is actually violence demanding murder.

I'm a goofy history nerd, so DOGE makes me think about the Doge of Venice who attempted a coup in 1355. His cronies were hanged, and he was not only beheaded but declared damnatio memoriae (damnation of memory), stricken from official history forever. It's a nice thought.
Doge Marino Faliero's non-portrait in the Venetian hall of doges. It's a painting of a black shroud with a Latin motto: "This is the space for Marino Faliero, beheaded for his crimes."

People need to be crystal clear about something: The requirement that the government ANSWER to a court on the legal basis for detaining someone is literally the core liberty right (habeas corpus). If the government says they don’t have to do that bc “national security,” YOU can be disappeared.

Tomorrow's NASA Astronomy Picture Of the Day (APOD): Wolf-Rayet star WR 140. Every shell is racing away from the stars at more than 2600 kilometers per second, almost 1% the speed of light. 🔭 🧪
The image shows a bright white point of light surrounded by 17 regularly spaced, hazy dust shells at the bottom, right, and upper right, which look like tree rings. There is noticeably less color in the upper left. The central point, where the two stars are located, has a roughly hexagonal shape.

V838. Each color shows the passage of time. As the bright flash of light left the star, it illuminated the dust surrounding it, but because space is so big, we actually see the light travelling and illuminating the dust as it goes along. By Judy Schmidt. www.flickr.com/photos/geckz... 🔭 🧪
A breathtaking image of V838 Monocerotis, a red giant star that mysteriously brightened dramatically in 2002. The nebula surrounding the star is a result of this outburst, showcasing a complex interplay of colors and textures as the star's light interacts with the surrounding gas and dust.

After building up, the air would be pushed into the suit to cool the wearer. The cooling cycle would end when the ammonia from urine in the thigh pouches liquified. Non-Fremen generally considered the suits very unattractive.

Stillsuits are a creation of zensunni wanderers, who were “used as laborers of many different types” and were able to “cross-use” the various technologies they learned in its creation. Air would be pumped into the hood via breathing and heel pumps.
