Good to flag that! And yeah, it's interesting to remember that at least this consultation did pose the question to respondents in terms of a network level series of choices too.

Yeah, of all of the (many, helpful) maps in the detailed consultation response the heatmap is quite striking - as it shows a good chunk would still rather just be on Oxford Street. Of course, other thing is to map current/future routes against where people cycle already. Actually useful London-wide!
A heat map of alternatives to Oxford Street traced on a map of London. Oxford Street is faint, but has clear interest still, and a route closest to Oxford Street along a straight line to the north is the most desired route, with some alternatives further north also showing some preference.

“Cycling routes in and around the area will remain available during these preparatory works. […] cyclists should take extra care and follow any signed routes” tfl.gov.uk/status-updat... Which is basically guidance about abandoned routes from the LCN era! Are the maps even up to date?
TfL’s cycling map showing no designated routes on, adjacent to or even near Oxford Street.

So the LibDems are talking about a big cut in fuel duty. This would mark a big growth in subsidies to motorists which would benefit the wealthy the most. They drive the most and drive the least fuel efficient cars.

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.

DfT too used to hiding emissions as a % “The draft HENPS stipulates that an assessment should be made using ‘the percentage impact on economy-wide carbon budgets.’ Because the UK’s 2050 target is zero, it is not possible to calculate a percentage impact on the basis of whole-economy GHG emissions.”

Really quite striking just how large aviation would be in future carbon budgets. Is this really even plausible as an outcome? “By 2050, under the Current Trends scenario, the [aviation] sector will account for 65% of whole-economy residual CO2 emissions.” www.theccc.org.uk/publication/...

Then a big panel where it's projecting a bunch of crescent eclipse shapes and smiling with speech bubbles around saying "Wow! Look! Amazing! Beautiful!"
