Be mean to antivaxxers! I am so serious. They are going to kill us all. Children are dying and they’re in a tin foil hat circle jerk claiming to be the real victims of some malicious attack, when it’s just predictable and preventable childhood infectious disease as usual. They don’t deserve respect.

This is how stupid these people are. They do not know anything. They have always been this stupid! The problem is our institutions continued to demand harmful people and ideas be treated with civility that they don’t return, and that “both sides” be platformed even when one side is false and wrong.

The "Is it a constitutional crisis yet?!" discussion is so absurd: Of course you can construct increasingly esoteric definitions for why this current moment doesn't meet your exact criteria yet. But meanwhile, this is where we are: Masked agents of the states abducting people for writing op-eds.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

By their definition, any notable accomplishment achieved by someone who was not a straight white male -- no matter how or when it happened -- counts as "DEI" and "bias against whites." It's racism, pure and simple. Stop pretending there's anything more complicated at work here. It's racism.

Schumer wants us to believe Senate Dems are powerless while literally providing the votes to ensure the GOP agenda goes forward. If a shutdown was better for Trump, the House GOP wouldn't have passed this CR and the Senate GOP wouldn't vote for it. Schumer knows that; he's outright lying to us.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

Yes.
No matter the cause, the problem for Democrats is existential. The Republican Party and its vast media apparatus are engaged in a campaign to reframe the most fundamental debates about American society: the role of women and minorities in public life, the continued existence of the New Deal state, the contours of the right to vote. If all Democrats do is attempt to match public opinion, they’ll be forever operating within a Republican frame, stuck watching the polls while Republicans move them. What has happened with trans rights will happen over and over; an endless cycle of perpetual retreat.

I don’t mean to reduce the issue to a cold political calculus. The best justification for supporting trans rights is that trans people are real and deserve civil protections. If supporting them was deeply unpopular, it would still be the right thing to do. Politics isn’t a series of McKinsey presentations, it weighs on human life and dignity.
