Bay Area friends: A friend found these small kittens behind a gas station and we've been trying to find them a home for almost two months. For now, they live in a small bathroom. Would you consider adopting? They are vaxxed, neutered, and incredibly affectionate. Please help!

Since it’s Frog Week I am going to be posting frogs for the next two days. This is an American Toad, Anaxyrus americanus, lodged under the board of an abandoned building. Yes, true toads like this are a specific type of frog but a frog nonetheless
A large toad, Anaxyrus americanus, partially buried and wedged under part of an abandoned building. It is puffed out and “bloated” which allows for not only security but also allows for beneficial thermoregulation and maximum hydration in an otherwise dry spot. The photo was taken in the dark so there is a light shining on the face of the toad.

Celebrating Edith Clarke--the first female electrical engineer in the US--on International Women in Engineering Day. She invented the Clarke calculator to solve electric power transmission problems, a precursor to modern smart grid technology. Patented, 1925. #WomenInSTEM #WomeninEngineering (1/2)
Sepia-toned vintage portrait photograph of Edith Clarke (1883–1959), the pioneering American electrical engineer, inventor of the Clarke Calculator (a graphical tool for solving power transmission problems), and the first woman to earn a master's degree in electrical engineering from MIT. She is shown in a close-up head-and-shoulders view against a dark, neutral background, gazing directly at the camera with a composed, intelligent expression. Clarke has distinctive curly hair neatly styled, and she wears thin, round pince-nez glasses perched on her nose with a thin bridge and side arms. She is dressed in a formal dark blouse or jacket. The classic early-to-mid-20th-century studio portrait style conveys her trailblazing role in electrical engineering and power systems innovation.
