"Last night, the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to a massive three-alarm fire in our Senate District.
This fire impacted commercial buildings along East Franklin Avenue and 13th Ave S. in the Ventura Village Neighborhood. This area of is a porticularly important historic and cultural corridor in the Southside.
I am devastated to hear that this fire may have impacted precious Dakota archives stored inside the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe's Urban Office, a connected building.
I commend the multiple crews and over 50 members of the Minneapolis Fire Department who worked tirelessly to tackle this large building fire and keep it from spreading to other buildings on the block.
We ore wishing a swift and speedy recovery for the two firefighters who were injured while battling this fire.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and under investigation. Get ready and prepare to heed the call of community members and their requests for support."
