Thank you for all the shares and reposts. We're trying to scrape every dime together to get ready for this move. I'm currently having to attend jury duty selection, so I may lose work shifts this week and next. I also haven't received payouts for game profits. Any share or contribution helps.

Time for another #hauntalong recommendation! Today I’m recommending Vincenzo Natali’s Cube (1997), a Canadian sci-fi horror movie about a group of strangers who wake up inside a giant maze of identical rooms. Some of the rooms are safe. Some of them are super not safe.

The leaves are changing, the skies are gray, and that can only mean one thing: Haunt-Along! My first Haunt-Along pick is Saint Maud, a delightfully unsettling piece of religious horror from director Rose Glass. It's about loneliness, faith, guilt, and a little bit of murder.
A close-up shot of two women's faces close to one another. One woman is reclining, and the other stands over her, a hand on her face, dimly lit by a warm light from offscreen.

Happy Haunt-Along to all who celebrate! I know it's been a tough year so I’m embracing Sadtober! Horror is often about trauma or grief in some way, but the movies I’m talking about this year wear it on their sleeve. I’ll include content warnings for them. So let’s start with Daniel Isn’t Real.

It's Haunt-along season and I'm going to make a case for diversifying your horror diet by talking about SANTET, the first film I ever watched featuring Indonesia's Queen of Horror, Suzzanna. It's got an alligator witch, black magic...a groin-detonating frog... good stuff! Let's dig in!
A poster for SANTET: Ilmu Pelebur Nyawa

The film's star, Suzzanna, stands with her arms raised, small burning pots of flame in her hand. The background has some lightning bolts layered in.

The logo, SANTET, uses a font that makes the word appear to be written in flame.

Almost two years ago, @notalonehorror.bsky.social and I were talking about the TV show Carnivàle as if it were an RPG and he nailed the dynamic of Ben Watkins, a series protagonist stubbornly uninterested in being the main character or revealing his story.
Blaine Martin (he/they) — 2/20/24, 8:41 AM
GM: Okay, yet another NPC comes up to Ben and says "I can answer all the questions you have about your father and your strange powers."

Player: I punch them, then run away and stare broodingly at a corn field, wishing I knew who my father was and what my strange powers did.

It is a fact long held that in a western the bad guys wear black hats. In Robert Rodriguez’s 1996 vampire flick, From Dusk till Dawn, the Gecko brothers trade black hats for black suits but Rodriguez wastes no time in proving that they are BAD. (1/10)

Hi friends! For my first ever #hauntalong, I want to shine a (flickering) light on Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (FWWM). Released in 1992, a year after the titular TV show's cancellation, David Lynch took a beloved setting known for its charming characters and said: "it's worse than that."
The cover of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, featuring a burning half of a heart-shaped "best friends" necklace with a photograph of Laura Palmer, a young blonde woman, smiling. In the background, red curtains line the walls of a room with a zig-zag black and white floor. Toward the bottom is the text, "In a town like Twin Peaks, no one is innocent."

This #hauntalong, I'm trying to be a bit sexier than last year. I'm talking sultry, sanguineous, seductive, and penetrative. Like with knives. Or teeth. I wanted to get Let's talk about my first entry: Claire Denis' 2001 psychosexual horror film, 'Trouble Every Day' 🫀
Still from the Claire Denis film Trouble Every Day. It shows a wall with wild blood splattering all over it. A woman walks from right Drake to the left, also covered in blood while wearing a neglige.

The foreground says, "Trouble Every Day" A film by Claire Denis.
