It's really not, though. Competency and creativity are two different things. Ray Romano probably knows more than anyone in the business about the theory of joke structure, but I couldn't quote any of his stand up. But the first time I saw Richard Pryor's Matchstick bit is burned into my brain.

Thing is, there's centuries of well-written jokes. The structure isn't the problem. Comedy has a shelf life, and you can only reheat and serve the same thing for so long before it turns to slop. What AI will never take the place of hearing a brand new joke.

Its every bit as much a rich tapestry of Americana that gave folks like me a lifelong love of folklore, as it is at center of the rot that birthed the filthiest corners of Tumblr, and not always in the fun ways. I've got less complicated feelings about some exes than I do this damn show...

Losing her and Left Eye so close to each other was devastating. I know for a fact they're why I love so much of the music I do. Aaliyah is the reason I went back and learned about Toni Braxton, and Whitney Houston, and eventually Nina Simone. And Left Eye had me hooked since the All That Intro.

All I'm gonna say is that Shreveport could stand to learn a thing or three from how Minneapolis handled things earlier this year. Folks are gonna remember for a long time how you treat your fellow man. Just because someone's unhoused doesn't mean they aren't still your neighbors.
