Today I'm having leftover rice for dinner, fried with peppery cheese and an egg, flavored with tomato and crispy chili. Served with cold peanut sauce and some thick yoghurt.

Boss boss is having hip surgery so she'll be gone for at least a month. Her superior, my boss and the other two on his level will split her responsibilities between them to try to manage in her absence. Hopefully nothing falls between the cracks.

I did garden work for three hours, including digging up a troublesome flowering weed for my neighbor and moving a few of my own plants to the communal plots. I discovered some horrible self sown maple-ish things in the process. Now I’ve showered and had lunch.>

Started the slow cooker chicken so it'll be done in the middle of the afternoon. I diced the peppers I bought yesterday into it, together with garlic, ginger, jalapenos and spices.

I think I should clean out the patio today. I'll collect the remaining green tomatoes and store them for ripening and then put all the plants on the compost heap. It's 4C now in the mornings, so no need to wait for actual frost.

This place (the manor of the ironworks village) looks a fair bit like the place I went for a silence retreat for my 50th birthday.

Going to the autumn fair in an old ironworks town tomorrow. This part of the country has lots of old ironworks communities which used to be worked by imported Walloons from Belgium, valued for their craftsmanship. They all shut down more than 100 years ago so they're mostly just>
