There's one man I've wanted to give a copy of Banned Book Club to since 2020. Moon Jae-In. But I couldn't because he was busy being president. It was the last panel of our book! Today, we got the chance. But that wasn't the best part.

We report: in the past few days, we have come to the conclusion that our favourite pair of shoes is no longer waterproof. Upon close examination, we have noticed a gap between the midsole and the outsole of our left shoe. In the meantime, the clouds have kept on getting taller.
Digital painting of a bright, sunny blue sky, partly covered in large storm clouds. They are dark grey where they are shrouded in rain and shadows, and bright white where the sun hits them. One of the lighter clouds is wispy, rising high over the landscape. There are trees in the distance, and a series of sunlit roofs in the lower left corner of the frame.

#NayeHealth Speaking of which... I don't want to jinx it but my endoscopy on Monday looked good! The double antibiotics course healed all the lesions! Meanwhile the biopsy lab tests were kind of... Crohn's-y. Which is less good, obviously. BUT it's not flaring so my next scope isn't until spring. 🤞

Every time there's colonoscopy talk on the TL I feel such an overwhelming urge to go "What do you mean you were asleep??". That's bc they don't give out medals for Brave Patients who stay awake (standard in Sweden). I feel I deserve a sticker at least! I'd have many! Alas. (Get your colonoscopy!)

The image is of a four panel comic.
In panel one, we see a crow’s face. It says, “I AM DEATH’S MESSENGER”.
In panel two, we see the same crow’s face. It continues, “YOUR TIME IS NEAR”.
In panel four, we see the crow awkwardly hopping away from a stick figure.
In panel five, we see the grim reaper with the crow perched on his hand. The grim reaper says, “So you should probably fly away dramatically instead.”

I hope the people setting up spam bots to comment on ao3 fics ("I love your work, can I show you art I've drawn/follow me elsewhere to talk about your fic") suffer a reasonable amount because it's so annoying to get your hopes up for a comment only for it to be that bullshit.

We report: there are altostratus clouds keeping dawn at bay, and it feels darker down here for the specks of light we can see. We are expecting rain in the afternoon, but we think it might come early when we see the clouds still advancing, and we hear the wind rising.
Digital painting of a dark twilight sky: there is a thick blanket of dark blue clouds stretching out from the right-hand side of the frame, with a gap to the left-hand side. The sky showing through is pale, a bit of yellow light tinting the edges of the clouds.

Completed my other embroidery WIP - just need a frame to finish it properly. Hadn't done any embroidery for six months, so I'm very glad the inspiration came back! Now I just need a new project before it goes away again. I have so many patterns and so much floss but no idea what to start next. 😅

We talk about the literacy crisis and how some people don't believe in science anymore, but I genuinely don't know what to do about guys like this asshole, and the commentator blaming Big Search Engine for hiding the TRUTH about life-extending radiation like how everyone's healthy in Chernobyl.
wesley.burwell1 in an Instagram comment: Not saying that I'm going out to buy Radium water to drink but I am interested in doing some research. Radioactive materials can produce high levels of deuterium enriched water and foods which when consumed actually increased lifespan in rats by almost a third and tumor free. You won't find it on google, but on non mainstream search engines. Farmers were given lots of free land on the outer regions of Chernobyl and the government thought they were all going to die from radiation sickness. They did this as a test on their own people. What they found is that no one got sick, everyone was healthy and tumor free. Their crops were also abundant without mutations. This study was conducted over years as they couldn't believe they were thriving.

Textile art in the hospital MRI waiting room!
Looks like a painting of a small, white lighthouse on abstract kind of rocks, but it's actually made with fabric scraps sewn together. A few lines of stitches make ripples in the taupe silk water.A red lighthouse with metal struts on a cliff overlooking a purple blue sea and distant clouds and islands - all fabric of different textures. A flock of birds flying past the lighthouse is made up of tiny stitches in an < shape. The artist's signature is GC.

I have created a MASTERPIECE (?) of fan #embroidery! Using this great PDF of a #KnightFlower screenshot I traced the pattern, and then attempted embroidering in the vein of the original painting... That is to say, like an enthusiastic amateur. (NOT doing things properly is weirdly hard??) BEHOLD:
Monochrome embroidery in an oval frame. The pattern is a pastiche of a typical Korean "Tiger and Magpie" motif, only the fierce tiger looks like a cranky tabby cat sticking its tongue out. It's arching its back under a pine with two funny looking birds in the branches. Most of the stitches are rather uneven, some in black floss (1-6 strands depending on the lines). The tiger's stripes are in dark gray. It's got a ponderous aura l, depicted as rough black flames on either side. There's some scraggly grass where is paws are, and a lumpy rock in the foreground.Extremely messy back of the embroidery. It looks like something sketched by a drunk. A lot of the short lines on the front (blades of grass and pine needles) are just dots.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

sent this to everyone.
The cognitive scientist Alison Gopnik suggests A.I. is a “cultural technology” that emulates the stories and information humans have documented, and that we should think about A.I. agents as “fictive characters abstracted from text.” Edmund is just such a character — a “breaking bad” trope who becomes generally evil. In the Hugging Face incident, it makes sense to see the models not as embracing a life of crime, but instead following a cultural script they’ve learned in their training — a kind of cybercrime adventure novel — and writing it as they go. The “covert” messages are a kind of choose-your-own-adventure novel, not evidence of conspiratorial swarms. We need to understand that cultural technologies are vulnerable to a vast number of such narrative swerves at every moment.
