I've been a member of the lobby for well over a decade. Not a single one of my lobby colleagues has said a word about the Conservatives banning me from their conferences, without any explanation. Contrast with the US where even Fox News stood in solidarity when Trump banned news outlets he disliked

Demography is still a powerful driver of art. For YEARS White Album/Pet Sounds topped lists of best albums. Slowly others like OK Computer appear. I’m reading Jay McInerney’s Calloway tetralogy but it’s interesting b/c I was there Will be history for my kids generation

We waited an hour but then our cohort shuffled along admirably well. Took it in. Of course not like at Bayeux itself. However group ahead of us had a lady who stalled and stalled and like the one idiot braking hard in the motorway, it caused a horrendous jam behind

Yes. Though unanswered is the conceptual point of using pay diffs which *may* have been due to discrimination, as the evidence base to support market based differentials. Similar really to AI’s knowledge base consisting of social data that reflected past imperfections

To those saying this normalises abhorrent views, the piece absolutely does not. It hangs him with his own words. As someone who has been on the receiving end of overt antisemitism I’ve always held that it is far better to know who the worst people in the world are than to pretend they don’t exist.

I think air quality is, pardon the pun, just invisible like you say reduction of smog had bigger effect on perception even if today's reductions have similar effect on reducing health problems. 'pollution' still has a strong visible or olfactory sense about it for people to notice

Isn’t this partly an ageing thing plus some genuine (mis)perception issues and some real decline? Violent crime down but most people know of low level local minor crime in their area - that’s just more salient to their daily well-being; council services; schools etc.
