#BlueLights is blisteringly brilliant. Came back as strong as ever. Have yet to see a weak episode or performance. That level of drama is tough to maintain but both the screenwriters and cast and crew are achieving it. Sincerely hope there will be a fifth series despite reports to the contrary.

P.S. To give you an idea how impactful shingles can be. The damage to my bowel, which I’m still living with, is permanent. Some folks may think shingles is simply a nasty painful rash that comes and goes. It can cause serious damage. Sometimes permanent lifelong damage. Get your vaccinations.

Had my shingles shots as soon as I was eligible. Because of my other health/disabilities I didn’t have to wait until I was pensionable age. No way do I won’t to walk through that fiery hell again. Highly recommend anyone who’s eligible get their shots.

Shingles put me in hospital in Nov 2016. Long excruciatingly painful story I won’t bore you with. Mine wasn’t caught early and I wound up having a 20cm+ band around my midriff. Put me through hell and highly likely damaged my bowel. Left me with hepatic neuralgia. Still flares 10 yrs on.

Even if that book adaptation or *cough* original script (yes, we know they do exist out there) doesn’t go into production, or does and gets filed in a drawer, studios will take on board the good relationship you’ve built up with them, which can lead to opportunities that DO make it to our screens.

Hasten to add, it’s not all doom and gloom - or should that be zoom and gloom? Authors get paid for those film rights. Screenwriters too for the scripts they write, whether it hits the big or small screen or not. Ideally you want your creative ‘baby’ out there in the big wide world.

There are entire rooms full of licensed IP scripts in every major studio. Plus, there are films that were made and never released, TV pilot dramas that never saw the light of day. Added to that, countless film rights to novels that have been bought up and gone endlessly from studio to studio.

The funny thing is that people from more privileged backgrounds don’t feel the needs to ask permission to be creative.
