I realise things like this have to be said for domestic consumption but there is something genuinely surreal to me about the very concept of something being beneath the dignity of the USA in 2026.

TIL: The word "novel" is actually derived from "novella," which was used by Boccaccio to mean "new little stories." English took the term later and applied it to longer fictional narratives as "novels."

We are interconnected with each other.
Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good.

Shin Godzilla (2016)
Two frames from Shin Godzilla (2016).
A very tired man sits at a wooden table in a very messy conference room. Another tired looking man, holding a small paper cup, stands next to him leaning on the table.
The captions read, "Anything from the US?"
"I wouldn't rely on them right now."

11/22/63. I've noticed all my favorite King work involves him stretching himself—none of my favorites by him are straight horror—and this is the one novel he's done that had to be plotted in advance by its nature. He's also writing on a time and subject that's dear to him. The result's just great.

“This appears to be a long document. Save time by reading a summary.” HELL NO.
Screenshot of a tweet responding to another tweet. @SketchesbyBoze writes "In Fahrenheit 451, the abolition of reading began with tech companies simplifying books into summaries that you could read in five minutes. Because people no longer engaged with the texts, they forgot how to think. Then came the book-burnings."
Quote tweeting a tweet by @AntonJaegermm
