Considering the current state of things, I'm still glad I moved back to Pennsylvania in 2018 and escaped the south. But I will also forever be missing this.. ♡

Just got a #Covid booster shot last week before an upcoming trip, & thank goodness I did. I'm hearing that soon it may only be approved for those 65+? I'd like to not die or carry a deadly disease to my elderly parents, thanks. Thought #RFK said they wouldn't take the CHOICE to be vaccinated away??

Only thing I can think of is maybe a smart watch? I could be using my phone and my Fitbit will still buzz with email notifications/etc.

May or may not have ordered a 2nd Steam Deck to have just in case something happens to the one I currently have at any point in the next 3 years lmao 🥶

I feel like it's a privilege that I can choose not to perceive the news when I start to get overwhelmed but also like.. what am I even supposed to do. My state is the main reason we're in this mess, so my voice doesn't really hold weight here lol. I've been gaming & reading a lot more lately too!

Anyone else barely even using social media anymore? Between having to work to scrape by, fighting the good fight against my right-wing family members, and then seeing a minimum of several new horrors brought on by the current administration anytime I login to anything... I am TIRED.

Nirnroot @nirnroots.bsky.social · 22/02/2025

Oddly enough 10 seconds after posting this it went back online for me LOL. Down Detector shows they've apparently been having issues all day tho, so not sure what's going on over there.

Gonna stop constantly thinking about how abysmal everying is (and getting worse!), and start taking pictures of my surroundings and posting them here and on Pixelfed. Yippee. #Pittsburgh

City of Pittsburgh, view from standing in a parking lot. Large buildings such as the David Lawrence Convention Center and UPMC skyscraper can be spotted. The sky is vibrant blue, with white and gray clouds.

The remote work debate was funny because it forced the question "Is a job something valuable you do or is it a place you go to be watched like daycare" and the answer for a lot of them was yeah it's the daycare thing now come on inside recess is over

To be clear, I still want to stay informed on what's going on out there. It sucks eggs so hard, sure; but is very important to keep up to date. I just don't want it to literally be the only thing I'm seeing on all my socials all day y'know?

Looking for people to follow who post about books, nature, recipes, or board/video games. My feed right now is mostly just depressing political bullshit that I'm already sad enough we are all living thru (again) so I gotta get some cutesy stuff in the mix before it consumes me.

Spotify is on thin ice rn. Thx for raising the price on me a million times all while taking away features & in the end donating $150k to Dump's inauguration/holding some dumb inauguration brunch for the "podcasters that influenced the election" like Ben Shapiro. Why are y'all even involved like damn

Nirnroot @nirnroots.bsky.social · 26/01/2025

Deleting FB so I dont have to see family members/people I went to school with post their dogshit takes all day long was one of the best things Ive done in a while lol. Not that I want to be in an echo chamber, but you literally cannot reason w/ the right because of the glaring difference in morals 🤧

Instead of renaming geographic areas or signing unconstitutional executive orders, Donald Trump should be focused on lowering the price of groceries. It’s unfortunate he’s playing political games instead of helping the American people.

I hope you feel better soon!! A Kindle (and ngl my Steam Deck too) are essential for keeping me sane while sitting in waiting rooms or not being able to leave bed.

If this is somehow related to Trump (who tried to get it banned in the first place, and is now probably using it as leverage to seem like some kind of hero) then I will stay gone. And I'll never have a Facebook or Instagram or any Meta thing again regardless 🫶

Ummmmm... Is TikTok back up for anyone else?

Yes! I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but what I do personally is use the Libby app to check out books I want to read. I send them to my Kindle (that's the way I prefer to read right now since it's so portable) and then if I like the book I buy a physical copy of it for my collection.

Yay, I hope you like it! One thing you may notice is, not all books your library has physically will be on the app, and there are still specific numbers of copies depending on the book, so you may sometimes have to place a hold :)

Thanks for the reminder! I always forget to do that lol. Without TikTok I have more free time to occupy now, and am gonna need those extra free books for sure 🤣

Not Libby's fault of course, but the only thing people just downloading it for the first time may notice. Not all books your library has physically will be on Libby's app.

I've been using Libby for years & have virtually no complaints other than I wish my library would add more books. There have been a few times where I search a popular book thinking I'll have to place a hold just to find my library has 0 copies??

Same here!! Some of my favorite books are hard cover, or have a million pages, and my wrists tire pretty quickly trying to hold them up even for short periods of time. Plus, the Kindle is infinitely easier to read while laying down/in bed imo.

Yes! It's super neat. Was life changing when I first figured it out haha.
