5yr old me came downstairs to parents watching MTV and first thing I saw was MJ transform into a wolf monster. Thriller. Other media hit hard (Superman III robot girl, Neverending Story laser statues, Return to Oz desert, Raiders light-based spear trap), but that was the first I recall.

I don't think this movie gets as much attention as it should. I could watch it up till the main bad guy revealed his true self, and I kept having to look away. I even rewatched the movie multiple times, but just could not watch him transform.
