This is remarkable.
Bar chart which shows y-axis running 0-8000, and x-axis showing years 2019 and 2024. For 2019, a light orange bar runs up to just over 6000, with a darker orange running up to 8000. For 2024, a green bar runs up to 4000, with a dark green running to about 5000. The text "40% lower" is on the lighter green bar. Text at the top of the graphic reads "Estimated air pollution deaths are down by around 40%. New analysis estimates deaths associated with air pollution in London reduced substantially between 2019 and 2024." Text at the bottom of the graphic reads "Note: darker shading shows estimated ranges. Data based on a comparison of estimated mortality burden using updated methods and a scenario-based analysis where only air pollution changes. Source: london.gov.uk/aqmortality". The Mayor of London logo sits in the bottom right-hand corner.

The systemic element is important because it allows for things like segregation, violence & overpolicing to be handled by the state while exclusifying & privatizing safety, education & security so that settlers can still feel liberal & Not Racist & even disapproving as they aren’t actively doing it.

In general people need to expand their understanding of gentrification as not just a free market phenomenon that happens in a vacuum but rather an intentional result of policy that rewards systemic denial of resources to places where people can afford to live & brings violence to those who remain.

Wow the conversion exception for healthcare providers is a MILE wide. Overt & explicit conversion against trans & gay people is FINE & not a conversion practice, i) when conducted by a healthcare provider ii) so long as doesn't 'fall far below the standards reasonably expected in their profession'

The myth underlying this is that trans people (trans women specifically) were ever "invisible." We were objects of fascination, scorn, mockery, and fetishizing long before 2014 (for about the entire history of mass media really). What really broke a lot of brains was the idea we deserved dignity

It's fragmented because there are push and pull factors for both routes but contemporary fascism is not climate change denying within their own circles - they know damn well it's real and see it as a way of killing more "undesirables" than they could get away with in wars.

Or was it an opportunity to break the working class once and for all. Privatise the water, privatise the air, kill off surplus populations and keep the rest in even tighter chains. And this is the route the American and European ruling classes chose after 2008.

Was this a big tech turning point - an opportunity to make huge amounts of money post war reconstruction style. Green Keynesianism coupled with austerity for the majority? And this is happening piecemeal still and is the route China has gone.

There was for a long time a big ideological split in ruling class institutions (visible in various think tank bullshit, Davos, the Gates Foundation and assorted bullshit) about what kind of opportunity Climate Change was for them. Not threat. Opportunity.

It's not about attempting to change which label someone uses, it's about trying to change which sex/sexes people are/are not attracted to. So even if a trans lesbian was analysed as a straight man they would still be protected if you tried to make them attracted to men and/or not to women.

The important thing to understand is it doesn't matter whether you are defined as straight/a lesbian/bisexual/etc. – any abusive practice which intends to change your belief about which sex you are attracted to is covered. Including one sex, both sexes, or neither sex.

This thread is incorrect because the Bill covers belief as to one's sexual orientation, not just one's "legal" sexual orientation per the EA. So any abusive practice attempted to change one's belief as to their sexuality is covered – ie convincing a trans woman they are not attracted to women.
(2) “Conversion practice” means (subject to subsection (3)) any conduct carried out by a person towards an individual with the intention of—

(a) causing the individual—
(i) to have or not to have,
(ii) to believe that they have or do not have,
a sexual orientation or a particular sexual orientation; or

"LGB-no-T" campaigner Julie Bindel says she'd BAN pride if she could, in order to protect children from predatory gay men. Absolutely fucking appalling. A whole column — "A Pride of Perverts" — going on like this. TERFing really cooks the brain.
I feel afraid for vulnerable teenagers who, questioning or exploring their sexuality for the first time, go along to a Pride march in the hope of meeting like-minded young people. The parades are now hunting grounds for predatory men, who can dismiss as
'homophobia' any attempt to rein in their behaviour.
If I could ban Pride, I would, to protect young people - especially women, but also teenage boys who are very much in danger of being sexually abused and exploited by much older men.
Women like me are sick of being lumped in with trans-identified people, with kinksters, with those that just call themselves 'asexual', 'non-binary', 'sapiosexual' or
'aromantic' - people who are never going to face oppression or discrimination for their sexuality. The Pride movement is redundant.

I spent years on my university's IRB. 98% of researchers are basically ethical, and the IRB process is a frustrating layer of bureaucracy. 2% of researchers are war criminals, and what they're prosing to do is *shocking*. The bureaucracy exists because there's no way to tell in advance who's who.

The idea that trans women safely flew under the cultural radar until Visibility Discourse is so aggressively ahistorical. You cannot find a mainstream comedy made before 2010 that doesn't have at least one throwaway transphobic joke. In many cases, it's a running gag or a whole cruel plot point.

The thing that baffles me in the wake of the newest NBTK scandal is that the researchers being allowed to continue working with trans patients is up for consideration at all. "1700 minors victimized" isn't something you regain trust from. Working with any patients after this is suspect.
