Claude Code explaining why it changed three files.
A pale fish (?) with a large round sac. A Wikipedia-style caption reads: "The horngus of a dongfish is attached by a scungle to a kind of dillsack (the nutte sac)", followed by citation [77].

Tell the speakers that you liked their talks
if you always wanted to but think it isn't worth telling a speaker you liked their talk, this is your encouragement post to do so.

I'm a little late, but I really enjoyed this year's Freiburg edition of @smashingconf.com. A big thank you to everyone involved; the team and organization were fantastic, and I feel really thankful for having gotten to meet so many amazing humans 😍 Can't wait for next year!

Hendrik's work on this has been amazing. I'm hosting my own instance and the setup was literally "run it". Incredibly well done!

Essentially, your PDS can do this. They could offer their own interface to your data and let you manage it right there, though management should mostly happen through app views. Technically the PDS also manages the central login but Bsky uses RPC calls to the PDS directly for some reason.

I wish the boundary between an account and an app was much more clearly defined. I've heard the term "atmosphere account" being thrown around but its not really used in a user facing way. It would be great if atproto had a unified name and badge similar to "Login in with Google/Apple/..."

Another issue that came up was email verification. Bluesky showed a need to verify the user's email, but then the verification email comes from Eurosky. Clicking the button redirects back to Bluesky.

specifically, logging in to Bluesky with a non-bsky PDS account is weird. You're entering your password on a non-PDS domain, under Bluesky branding. Sometimes it detects the hosting, sometimes not. Shouldn't the login just always be handled by the PDS provider?

I recently saw a friend set up their atproto account and realized how confusing the whole system is. I wish atproto had a much better cross-app login experience. Is there any work being done to unify/improve the UI/UX of the login flow? I think I recall seeing some ideas but I can't find them.

The image is of a four panel comic.
Panel one shows a giraffe tripping on a rock. The giraffe says “woop” as it stumbles.
Panel two zooms in on the giraffe’s face. The giraffe is sweating in embarrassment. We see a thought bubble above the giraffe. The text within the thought bubble reads, “that was embarrassing.”
The third panel shows the giraffe closing its eyes and munching on leaves reassuringly. The thought bubble above the giraffe reads, “but no one will remember.”
The fourth and final panel pans to an elephant staring at the giraffe from behind some bushes.

I think a little more detail, but it doesn't need to be super precise, just some shading. I shared some rough direction in another comment! Roughly 6-12 icons for now.

I think roughly 6-12 icons, maybe more in the long run. These are just decorative

It should be softer/more cartoon-ish than this, I shared some inspiration in another comment if you want to take a look!

A bit of detail would be nice! This is roughly the style I want in terms of detail and "flat-ness": dribbble.com/shots/267871...

This is roughly the style I'm aiming for: dribbble.com/shots/267871... The colors could pop a little more but I'm not committed to an exact theme or style yet. Just a broad direction :)

It would be maybe 6-12 icons, I have vague ideas for what they represent but nothing strict :)

I'm working on my website and need some icons! Do I know anybody (or someone who knows somebody) who can create cute cartoon-artsy / "kawaii style" icons? (think a laptop, book, etc) and has availability? Would love some recommendations 😊

Two weeks ago I wrote about my development workflow for Chatto, and feedback has been fantastic. I'm particularly happy that it even made some of my AI hating friends go "okay, that's actually quite cool". We need to write more about our actual work, and in less of a preachy AI-salesperson voice.

I mean, that‘s exactly what most people do, right? My argument is that we can‘t compete purely on this: I don‘t think people will adopt or switch products based on it. The product needs to be competitive in itself, and the tech is a nice side-effect :) Maybe it could be a small badge or something.

Sorry, I didn‘t mean you should hide the fact its on atproto! What I mean is that on your product page itself, it‘s not a great „feature“. In tech circles, you can spread it far and wide :)
110
Nik Gadermann @nik.digital · 30/07/2026
I said it there but want to share: For most projects and people, atproto is an implementation detail, not a feature. If we as a community want widespread adoption of our tech, we need to move away from the jargon and offer something for non-technical folks.

Nik Gadermann @nik.digital · 30/07/2026
Yeah you‘re right, I don‘t think atproto for the sake of it is a good idea. But in this case, the tech and use case are actually a great fit :)

Nik Gadermann @nik.digital · 30/07/2026
Adding to the other comment related to this, I think it could really benefit from some not-atproto copy. I love the concept, but the intersection of restaurant owners with atproto knowledge finding this must be close to none… probably best to just target to all restaurants?

You can add any triggers or filters on vote count, title, URL, velocity, etc. – happy to share so you can give it a go and see if you can get any value out of it :) I can't message you, but if you reach out I'll send you a link

This could be taken in many directions: - Sentiment analysis and summaries - Granular insights - Daily digest of top posts / most commented / top rising - Custom notifications for certain sites/users/rankings - Surface through a bot, email, Pushover, ... - A mix of the above

So, I built a small app that tracks all Hacker News submissions over time, and allows you to set up custom triggers and basically curate your own daily summary. After using it for a few weeks, I am not sure what to make of it. Would this be interesting to anyone else? Happy to invite you to it :)

the problem with this is that you only spot the ones that are done badly. you can‘t know how good you are at „detecting“ vibe coded UI unless you have a data point for everything you look at. while some things are clearly AI, I don’t think it’s black and white. it‘s confirmation bias at work

unfortunately at least in Germany, WhatsApp is an absolutely integral part of society. Yes you can probably get rid of it but the „cost“ will be great. Unless we move entire social circles away it won‘t work. A lot of young techy folks tried with Signal a few years back and it just didn‘t work…
