Odense (Denmark) reintroduced trams in 2022, 70 years after the original system was abandoned. There is currently a single 14.5-km line, with a second one planned. Don’t tell me cities just need buses (or even buses disguised as trams).

The Climate Change Committee @thecccuk.bsky.social says it plainly - a new runways would emit as much carbon dioxide as the whole city of Birmingham. Relying on unproven fixes isn't action - it's wishful thinking. We can't claim to lead on climate while building more ways to fly. 🙄

Rather than expanding Heathrow, the Government should focus on cleaner alternatives to flying by improving rail links to Europe. A frequent flyer levy and ending aviation's tax privileges would also ensure those who fly most and pollute most contribute most to decarbonisation.

#Edinburgh only has c30 bus lane cameras on c40 miles of bus lanes. £1.1mn is only 4-6 fines per camera, per day - all of which can be avoided by not driving in bus lanes. Yet every peak bus will be affected by bus lane blocking or poor parking - we need much more enforcement, not less.
