It is a rule that at some point, every person will completely miss a crucial game mechanic in a game until embarrassingly late if they aren't forced to use it (Yes it has happened to me). I think run buttons are a common example of this, if the game never makes you run, many people won't try to

In isolation it is a mild negative reaction yes, though I tend to see it online used after saying something in a sarcastic tone. But I do have friends who also use it as just milder version of :( too, so perhaps the meaning of it is not universal yes

Pushing aside ownership/access stuff - when it comes to internet downloadable games, something we've had for more than 20 years now, outside of Steam, they don't stick with me. They fade away into a menu or even become inaccessible. There is choice paralysis - like a rom list - for me.
