Again look at what taxes France pays to have those kind of schemes. And even with those taxes they are struggling to pay this huge liability. Tell Brits their tax rates need to go from 28% (NI + IT) to almost 50% and see what they say

Still we have lower taxes than taxes especially on lower to mid income workers than we did back then. You can’t have low taxes AND high state pensions. We give much more tax breaks to private pension savings. There’s a reason pensioners are the most well off in society. They aren’t all poor at all.

Most of us do not live on the state pension alone and we have lower taxes than Europe to encourage us to save into pensions. Which the majority of pensioners do.

I just don’t believe this story in the Times that Gulf states are disappointed with the UK for not initially allowing their airbases to be used to attack Iran. It’s exactly the same position as the Gulf States who are refusing to allow their bases/ waters to be used

Not sure I agree with this. We have the lowest taxes on median workers for a very long time (not enough for the services we want) and there is some argument for lower taxes on companies. Ireland ran a huge surplus and was literally handing out goodies to citizens last year
