He’s like a bad dad on the first Christmas after mom asked for a divorce, throwing around the checkbook in a desperate attempt to buy love. It’s just so embarrassing

we don't owe platforms to rapists, especially not on the left. that's not punitive justice, it's protecting survivors, both from being in communities with powerful abusers and from being constantly retraumatized by having the same shitty discourse about the same shitty men every six months

I got back home a bit ago from Tennessee's execution of Christa Pike. We sat in the witness room for nearly 2 and a half hours as she received two rounds of pentobarbital. She was taken away in an ambulance shortly after that and I can't say for sure if she is dead or alive at this moment.

When I was first learning about what “lethal injection” is, I wondered why we don’t shoot people up with a heroic amount of heroin or somesuch. I’ve come to realize the answer is the goal is not “humane” but the bare minimum over the line of “not torture” according to some slick lawyers. It’s evil.

I finished rewatching today. I remembered that it ended with the school president overturning the rapist QB’s guilty verdict. I forgot that it also ended with Harris getting radicalized after realizing that the county DA he wanted to intern with helped cover up accusations to aid the university.

I’m watching Sweet/Vicious again because it turns 10 in a few months and definitely for no other reasons! It’s much funnier than I remembered, the black comedy is necessary for it to not be completely grim. I didn’t think it was that old, it’s shocking that it pre-dates the Me Too stuff by a year.

This is right but schools will never be able to get rid of it because so much of their sales pitch to the HS kids who don’t know what they want to do yet is The College Experience and Greek life/party culture is a huge part of that It’s toxic, dangerous and a key pillar of most big universities

I was made fun of for having “man titties” all through middle/high school. I eventually got surgery to adjust how I looked and it changed my outlook on my body. If I had that opportunity when I was in school I would have mashed accept. I want that for anyone who needs it, especially trans boys.

My dad had an NES when I was born and I would eventually get a Super Nintendo (the first revision) and a Game Boy Pocket so it was always inevitable I think, but Pokemon Blue was the point of no return for sure. I bet there are a lot of people my age for whom that’s the case

every time a parent says the exact phrase “parents know what’s best for our kids” you know they’re about to say some incredibly dumb bullshit “Parents know what’s best for our kids, so please let me inject them with colloidal silver so they can stop being infected by the 5G and the WiFi.”

And so we go back to the original question: bro why did you hire Macklemore in the first place? Are you just cartoonishly out of step because of how isolated you are? You just thought he was gonna bring it back to 2013 for 50 min and not do the thing he’s been doing publicly for the last 18 months?

020

Nick Ostrem @nickostrem.swifties.social · 14/09/2026

I think the meanest thing I could say about Ed Sheeran in this situation is that him caving like this proves that the only reason Ed hired Macklemore at all in the first place is a deep love and respect for Macklemore’s music

Nick Ostrem @nickostrem.swifties.social · 12/09/2026

Another great reason to not give into this stupid debate (aside from it being the right thing to do): You, a politician, do not have to talk about science far behind your pay grade and look dumb if you just say “fuck off, you don’t care about that shit you just want to see kids’ junk you freak”

In 1991, Nintendo settled a class action lawsuit by agreeing to send everyone in the class (people who bought an NES over a 30-month period) a 5 dollar off coupon for any game. This was brilliant because it gave many people a reason to buy a game they may not have otherwise. This is just that again
