This man has achieved more in a year outside of parliament than a lot of politicians do in a lifetime. He's rightly taking this moment to thank everyone that tirelessly supported the campaign, but let's put some respect on his name too: big up, Zacky P! We're proud of you x

STOP DOING MATH

• YEARS OF COUNTING yet NO REAL-WORLD USE FOUND for going higher than your FINGERS
• Wanted to go higher anyway for a laugh? We had a tool for that: It was called "GUESSING"
• "Yes please give me ZERO of something. Please give me INFINITY of it" - Statements dreamed up by the utterly Deranged
LOOK at what Mathematicians have been demanding your Respect for all this time, with all the calculators & abacus we built for them (This is REAL Math, done by REAL Mathematicians):

We can't do 'good' in the economy with an economic theory that only tells us how to fix markets if and when they fail. The common good is an objective, not a correction, where the how matters as much as the what. @Book_Fair | 10 October | 15:00-16:00 CEST ➡️ event.buchmesse.de/de/sessions/...

OpenAI are parasitic scum. As Wikimedia says; “AI companies are not doing enough to secure their systems and protect the public from the harm they cause.” These are DDOS attacks by a corporation's software doing exactly what it was designed to do. Why are we not seeing criminal charges?

Catholic here, loving Leo so far. Also want to throw in this: Source: Daniel Mitsui, artist who does a mix of secular and Catholic sacred art, who is also a consistent AI hater to no one's surprise. www.danielmitsui.com/00_pages/no_...
Text in the image: "according to legend, Albertus Magnus had spent thirty years devising an oracular head, a mechanical device that could answer questions posed to it. Thomas Aquinas smashed it to pieces. Different versions of the story say that this was out of annoyance, or of fright; I prefer to think that St. Thomas had prophetic insight into the evils such device could and would cause. While I generally avoid putting my religious drawings on everyday merchandise, I thought that this small scene was timely and appropriate and humorous enough to make an exception." There is a drawing of two men inside a medieval monasterty. One of them is St. Thomas Aquinas, and he is poised to swing a large club at a bust on a pedestal, which presumably is Albert the Great's 'oracular head'. The other is Albert, and he is running toward Thomas with a look of shock on his face, hands out to stop him. There is also text that says "KILL YOUR CHATBOT" and a header that says "artwork by Daniel Mitsui, www.danielmitsui.com"

If you look closely, there are a lot of people from NI and the west of Scotland working in content moderation and platform safety roles. There’s a reason for that. And also a reason why so many of us are deliberately out of work. You either listen to that, and to us, and to why; or you find out.

"We want big tech to take accountability" - there are already laws EVERYWHERE against unauthorized access to computer systems - why don't the Australian Government HOLD big tech to account?
Speaking to reporters in Brisbane, communications minister Anika Wells says the recent OpenAI agent hack is an example where "big tech clearly feels like they can do whatever they like".

"We want big tech to take accountability. We want an unregulated industry to implement some basic safety standards here on Australian shores, and that’s what I’ll be trying to do when I introduce the digital duty of care in October."

I feel like, if we get good inner function stuff in C we're going to need some new formatting rules, this sucks:
A piece of C code utilizing inner functions to read in a cert from a pem file and check it's time to see if it has expired.

The code:

  X509 *cacert = ({X509 *read_in_cacert(const char *filename) {
    FILE *ca_cert_file = fopen(ca_cert_filename, "r");
    defer { if (ca_cert_file != nullptr) fclose(ca_cert_file); }
    return (ca_cert_file != nullptr)
                  ? ({X509* check_cert_time(X509* cacert) {
      if (cacert == nullptr) return cacert;
      const ASN1_TIME *cert_not_after_time = X509_get0_notAfter(cacert);
      if (X509_cmp_current_time(cert_not_after_time) <= 0) {
        X509_free(cacert);
        EVP_PKEY_free(ca_keypair);
        ca_keypair = nullptr;
        return nullptr;
      }
      return cacert;
    }; check_cert_time; })(PEM_read_X509(ca_cert_file,
                                         nullptr, nullptr, nullptr))
                  : nullptr;
  }; read_in_cacert; })(ca_cert_filename);
  defer { X509_free(cacert); }

Ah, I know, the solution to this is a Kids Act that'll come into effect with no enforcement two years from now and keeping an open dialogue with our platform partners. And urgently do nothing on interoperability.

Until then, nothing changes for UK users: if you already had ADP enabled it's still on. If you didn't, you cannot activate it. My advice remains to de-Apple yourself off the applications covered by ADP* and use third-party e2ee applications instead.

Yes. This is an excellent critique of the anti-trust play from US AI companies - they’re saying these things because open and “free” models will destroy their leverage, which barely exists now, just before they all IPO.

That’s a $3 million commitment to the development, maintenance, and spread of Omarchy. What an incredible vote of confidence in the beautiful, fun & agentic OS we’re building.
