Picked up the fancy foil of Tazri from the March of the Machine DLC. Really excited to build. Dreaming of a spellshapers, self discard, landcycling, reanimator deck or something to pop out. But there's potential tap/untap garbage afoot as well 🤔

This is a good read. When you get a deck to a certain point, fine adjustments to cards for early and late game impacts are key. 🙂

I love my Quiver - I have three commander decks that live in it full-time - Unsleeved Bilbo and Sauron, and my swappable-background 252card Erinis deck. Depending on the game night I'll bring my dandan decks, or I can swap in two other commander decks from the rest of my collection @quivertime.com

Just convinced myself to put Overeager Apprentice into 3 of my reanimator decks. I think I need to get out of the kitchen. It banks mana, and lets you discard to reanimate... Need to try it out.

Overeager Apprentice - a magic card that is an on-board one time discard outlet and 3-black mana ritual. It's kind of bad, but sometimes it could be less bad!

Okay this was a surprise. Was adding cards to my Unsleeved deck and learned this perfectly fine single-sided card wouldn't work for my deck. Because it's not singled sided. It shuffles itself back in, guess i can i play it with a placeholder. For a single-sided card. 🙄 Sigh @emmapartlow.com

Hot take but the Bracket system isn't currently solving for velocity differences in B2 & B3 satisfactorily, IMO. I feel like if your Commander is a mana/card engine while ALSO contributing to your gameplan/wincon? It's never gonna be Bracket 2 if you've ever built a deck before in your life. 🧵

I've come to the conclusion that WotC design just wants everyone playing Ashling/Y'shtola/Teval/Fire Lord Azula pods. If every commander is a must-remove threat, than none are, and that fixes the issue. Frankly, people like myself who try to build decks are the real problem at this point.

My birthday gift this year from my lovely wife was a project idea: Build the Ultimate Collector Series A-Wing Lego set using random bricks found at a local store. The brick collection journey was incredibly satisfying, and the build was doubly so. I present to you, the rainbow build A-Wing:

Final Fantasy Prerelease was a lot of fun. The custom Hero Tokens were a great addition. Went 2-1, it was a fun sealed environment, lots of artifacts and legends running around.

So this chart popped into my head as a very rough tool. Not perfect and I'm not sure on the exact breakpoints for different Brackets (especially 4 & 5), but I feel it's a decent visualization.

Color coded chart showing the rough stage of the game for each bracket.
The colors are labeled:
Dark Green-Safe: No one is winning or making must answer plays.
Light Green-Developing: No one is going to win, but high impact plays can generate a lot of advantage.
Yellow-Caution: Winning isn't likely but it's possible and the game is moving in that direction.
Orange-Danger: Winning is getting more likely, especially if a player is left unchecked.
Red-The End is Nigh: a Player winning the game is expected.
Dark Red-Why aren't you Dead!?: Most of the time the game is supposed to be over by this point.

Bracket 1: Safe turns 1-3, Developing 4-7, Caution 8-9, Danger 10-11, End is Nigh 12-15.
Bracket 2: Safe turns 1-2, Developing 3-6, Caution 7-8, Danger 9-10, End is Nigh 11-13, WAYD? 14+

Bilbo, Retired Burglar. Super budget unsleeved deck that i enjoy immensely. White bordered and double sleeved our favorite hobbit.

The Bracket image leaves a lot of the nuance (from the article) about player intent out of the conversation. I, with input from the available members of the CFP, reworked the image to include it. Ask yourself, "What is the intent of this deck? What kind of experience am I looking for?"

If I were going to Magic Con Chicago I'd bring my Swappable background deck led by Erinis, Gloom Stalker. It lives in my @quivertime.com full time with my unsleeved Bilbo deck and my Dandan deck 🥰 room for two more commander decks to boot!

A Quiver deck case with cards arranged inside it using the groovy plastic dividers and velcro partitions to hold 3 decks of custom size perfectly. It's also orange which is a lovely color that matches most of the card sleeves
