While to topic was about the value of research, the panel discussion was around research impact. Helen Dixon (UCD) was the only person on the panel to defend fundamental research as the driver of innovation in our knowledge economy. Also I fear AHSS will have it hard in the new RI structure 3/3

It is expected that Ireland will generate more electricity from utility-scale solar PV than from coal this year 🌞 And PV installations are growing so quickly (from such a low base) that similar solar power was generated in October this year than June 2023. SEAI's "Energy in Ireland" is out today.
