In my keynote at the International Chinese Sociological Association, I emphasized the value of assessing relative and absolute poverty together, especially during rapid change. Between 2002-2018, in China, relative poverty rose while absolute poverty fell. @lisdata.bsky.social @ourworldindata.org

I've learned there's one major downside to hosting great postdocs: they leave! All of us at our Stone Center will be sad to say goodbye to Zhexun & Severin. But we know they will come back to visit. Goodbye pains aside, we're excited and gratified that they're heading to excellent new positions.🎉
