However, one wonders if it's possible to then ask similar questions around the original in order to map the territory and figure out more about the AI's approaches?

I am sympathetic to the proposition that the fun part is poking at the problem and trying various things in order to find a good angle of attack, and that being given an oracular answer also means you haven't developed new tools for future questions.

I probably haven't thought deeply enough about the AI math-problems thing, but my knee-jerk reaction to the math community's reaction is that if knowing the answers doesn't satisfy you, maybe that means you weren't asking the right questions.

Two of those sections look like cross-stitch and I'm not sure what the others are (I need more skill points in Embroidery). The different textures for the different colors is a very cool effect, though!

Big "we'd like to arrest you for the unauthorized practice of math" energy there. Insofar as the actual complaint is "a bunch of this might be crankish and now we have to waste time on it", I guess I can see it, but.

You will use the software the way Apple thinks you should, and you will like it. In fairness, if your interests do line up with theirs, the experience is usually pretty good. (Mine generally don't, though)

I assume that does have something to do with why it's not better known, though I also feel compelled to wonder if people play Knizia games for the theme

Okay, yes, the Dynasty Warriors 3 remaster appears to have the same battle designs as the original, much better graphics, and ... the original dubbing (also Japanese audio is available). That may be the correct choice, but it's interesting that they made it.

Releasing the Dynasty Warriors 3 remaster demo with the "classic" English voices as the default and perhaps only choice suggests to me that they're maybe not trying to attract new players with it.

Also the mode needs to be such that if you're bad, nobody on your team needs to care much. Frontline in FFXIV is like this, and it's pretty great.

It’s really weird how displaying some semblance of humility seems to have been extinguished as a cultural value in the United States over the course of, what, 15 years? Yes, Americans were never BIG on humility, but I swear I recall it being something powerful people used to get praised for.

Yeah, the final exam for the tutorial is the end of Chapter 9 and from there you're good to go. I've never managed to make it very far into the sequel (the first 5 hours do have some pretty cool bits), so there's maybe something to what you say about the cutscenes.
