Especially since a lot of creators that end up in that category are women, non-American, not-white, not-cishet or all of the above at the same time. There are some artists in those categories that I don't enjoy much and I do have to challenge myself sometimes on whether its an unfair bias or not.

While not all filmmakers deserve nuance since some are just shitty bigots, I think critiques of polarizing figures like Inarritu are more effective and honest when coming from people who actually like his work or genuinely engage with it. The dedicated haters are mostly just smug. Its boring.

Just got out of the (sadly empty) theater where I saw Forgotten Island. I loved every minute! Yes, the pacing is quick but imo if we can respect the slowness of long films we can respect the quickness of shorter ones. Especially since this is also a (great) Hangover-esque comedy. #ForgottenIsland

My personal "woke" view is that I hold men to standards; those men knew what they were doing and knew it was wrong.
