If there was one lesson from political science I wish I could shotgun into the minds of everyone, it might that MONEY DOES NOT BUY ELECTIONS Elections are mainly determined by deep social & economic factors that a few TV & online ads can only affect at the margin.
Half a billion dollars in GOP spending does little to move polls

Republicans’ massive money advantage has yet to reshape the midterm map, as Democrats keep expanding their ambitions.

was talking about this recently with an ex-congressman (an old timer from the 80s and 90s) and one of the remarkable things about this cycle is that trump has given his party absolutely nothing to run on. no bill to tout, no accomplishment to hype, no nothing.

While Senate offices have access to chatbots like ChatGPT, they are not authorized to use any of the more advanced tools that are at the center of regulatory talks and public debate about AI safety.

Even tho GAO is a Leg Branch office, the President nominates its head? Even this President. Not great! Congress should amend the law, then pick a new Comptroller General. Also, why proposed Dem House Caucus rules changes are worse than they seem firstbranchforecast.substack.com/p/congress-s...

I hope this isn't actual fatalism on the capacity of the legislative branch to do draft and enact regulatory legislation - because it has the ability to do both - and more a cop-out for something they don't want to do in the first place (in which case, vote 'em out).

I’ve always thought the smattering of boos of Bryce Harper from the Nats crowd paying attention to such things was weird - he wanted to stay, cheap ownership lowballed him. The lesson also is Freeman: if you replace The Man, get someone who is a click below talent, not Jorge fucking Polanco

Major reporting fail: Christian Scott was a college teammate of Alonso’s. So he’s been Code-pilled. The comp to Darryl Strawberry is there: left to a hated rival for $$$, got mercilessly heckled (even by Bart Simpson) the rest of his career
