I've now been livemusic'n pretty much for 12 hours straight... In the depths of the annual Ragas Live festival at Pioneer Works, which may be the peak livemusic experience to be had in NYC. See how long I last...

I would like to see the end of the term "vaccine skeptic," to be replaced by "reality denier." These so-called skeptics are actually the most gullible rubes on the planet when it comes to conspiracy nonsense and tech-bro slop; the only thing that makes them skeptical is peer-reviewed evidence.

Saturday Stop #1: No Kings rally in Washington Square Park. Some high quality speakers including Al Sharpton doing what he does best and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams was also pretty impressive. Decent showing, as usual. #nokings

The excellent @fiftyplusone.news has polling averages for 15 Senate races. Since Sept. 1—more or less when the GOP spending spree began—the average has moved in Dems' favor in 11 of those 15. And even in the four where it's moved right, Dems still lead in all four. fiftyplusone.news/averages#sen...

This is one reason I've never really understood the weakness & passivity of the US political media. If I live in a system where one of two parties can only win if people believe lies, and I am in the truth-telling business, I should take the ongoing success of that party as a personal insult.

Hard not to notice that Democrats who are doing the best are the ones who are leaving this whole civility-and-norms, we-go-high, we-need-a-strong-Republican-Party bullshit behind and are simply giving Republicans exactly what they all ought to get at all times, which is undisguised contempt.

My opinion of the NYPD? +5 points. If you drive on the BQE at all, you know this exit ramp. It’s so notorious @polgreen.bsky.social wrote a whole op-ed about it, without even having to name it, as a metaphor for broader social collapse.
