Some dumb fuck who parlayed a hash/sticker business and a famous dead brother into accidental political power wants me to get killed by a dumptruck because my death will buy him votes from two-braincell hicks who think bicycles cause Sharia law

If road taxes were a real thing, then drivers should be paying more for the damage, wear and tear they do to roads. Not to mention the main reason bike and ped infrastructure gets damaged is because of cars.

The judge's ruling cites "common sense" as the reason that adding more lanes eases congestion IT DOESN'T!! THERE'S AN ENTIRE FIELD OF STUDY AROUND THIS VERY TOPIC!! WE'VE KNOWN ABOUT THIS SINCE, LIKE, THE 1960s!!
[59] The question, then, is this: is there a rational connection between the purpose of reducing traffic congestion and the decision to increase the number of lanes for motor vehicles by removing bicycle lanes? The respondents were required to establish that there was no such connection. The appellants were not required to establish that the legislation will prove effective in reducing traffic congestion.

[60] Common sense provides the answer here: increasing the number of lanes available for motor vehicles must, at least to some extent, and for some period of time, be capable of contributing to reducing traffic congestion. The legislation is therefore rational. Assumptions grounded in everyday experience and common sense need not be established empirically: Gosselin v. Québec (Attorney General), 2002 SCC 84, [2002] 4 S.C.R. 429, at para. 56.

Any cyclist on a street with no bike lane should take up the whole traffic lane (as is there legal right) until anyone with “ford” in their name wakes the hell up. You wanna talk congestion. You have no idea.

I’m just wrapping my masters research on this exact topic and I can tell you the permit parking situation is already pretty bad as it is. Current systems forces areas that are already oversubscribed to take on more permits than other areas. It’s simply unfair.

heads up for those waiting for confirmation of the line 5 eglinton opening date - it's coming tomorrow morning at a TTC Board update. it'll either be a confirmation of the february 8 date (which the TTC has already slated post-opening service changes for), or an (unplanned) deferred opening date.

Local safe streets advocate has more photos of bike lanes, crosswalks and intersections than of his family from recent vacation.
WINDSOR, ON - The father of two who went with the family to Montreal for their summer vacation ended up spending nearly ¾ of the time pointing out bike infrastructure, intersections and pedestrianized streets. It's been reported that nearly 753 photos and videos were taken with only 3 of them including his family.
When reached for comment the oldest child said "we know it's gonna be bad when dad finds a bike share

My tinfoil hat theory is that Rogers’ Stadium is a test run for Ed Rogers to see if he can bring an NFL team to Toronto and inevitably get the city to pay for a permanent 60k person arena. Results are not looking promising for Mr Rogers :/

The idea that somehow people speeding and getting a fine for speeding is anything but their own fault is crazy! The whole speed camera discourse totally ignores. The drivers actually need to be responsible when they're operating a dangerous vehicle on public roads.

We can’t reason our way to safe streets. This is not the Netherlands of the 1970s. This has always been a culture war football with one side advocating for a communal and compassionate approach to cities and the other advocating for an anti-social and cynical vision.

The city ripped out the small front yards to transform Dufferin Street into a car sewer in 1950. The Dufferin bus route as we know it today was established in the 1960s. So what version of Dufferin Street do you want to back to?

Saw it with EglintonTOday, a project that had envisioned bike lanes on Eg for a DECADE. The « home » these folks on Dufferin are trying to save is literally a 4-lane car sewer that is so hostile to any form of life.

Sometimes good urban planning means lack thereof planning—letting go & allowing things organically to happen! This goes for zoning, parks (see desire paths), and how we regulate/allow public streets/spaces to be used (informal events, art, commercial uses, resting spaces, transportation modes, etc)

OK, yes, that should have been a penalty on Bennett for an intentional forearm to Stolarz's head. But look at it from the refs' perspective: if they call that, Paul Maurice might hold up some fingers at them, and then they can't call anything for the rest of the series.
