Nixon is my state rep. Showed up to our tiny public school auditorium when the board was threatening closure. She's good at her job whether you agree with her policy positions or not. And even if that weren't true she would belong in America. Get out of here with this racist, volkish garbage.

Lethal injection is not a medical procedure. Lethal injection is not “humane”. Lethal injection is a bad attempt at sanitizing and making acceptable the murder of an individual in the eyes of the public. That the states are allowed to use and keep secret the mystery slurries should be illegal.

Here's the topline for me on the permitting bill: we need to double or triple the grid with clean electricity if we are going to solve climate change. We need to do this in concert with communities & the environment, and do this quickly on a climate-relevant timeline. The contours of this look good.

In his speech about new passport application processes, Marco Rubio called the passport "an expression of the unbreakable bond between the nation and the citizen". If the bond is unbreakable why is the DOJ trying to denaturalize people?

I guess none of what I said about attribution, mitigation, or adaptation was interesting enough so I need up being quoted for something that any auntie could have said. 😩
David Ho, a professor of oceanography at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, was at home in Honolulu when Lala hit. His neighborhood flooded, and he was one of 200,000 electricity customers across the state who lost power. More than 200 homes and an estimated $67 million worth of public infrastructure were damaged, according to
*he Hawaii Emergency Management Agency.
"We have a lot of houses that were built before the building codes were modernized, Ho told me. "So once in a while, you have roofs that just fly away."

Does the project involve any work that could be interpreted as promoting DEIA, climate change research, or non-compliant to any Presidential Executive Orders?

This is tragic. It's even more tragic knowing JTA has spent the last decade lavishly spending on a dysfunctional autonomous vehicle program of questionable value, that the public has shown little interest in using. For its troubles, Jacksonville gets to watch CEO Nat Ford pack his bags for Dallas.

If JTA were an 50-year op by anti-transit advocates, it would not have operated any differently, at least at the top (line workers are good!). I keep expecting to find out it's run by Judge Doom.

Since I got my Covid vaxx yesterday, I thought I'd look up the latest estimates of its effectiveness. A JAMA overview published on Sept 2 provided good news: vaccines aren't perfect but do cut "COVID-19–related deaths, hospitalizations, and emergency department/urgent care visits" by ~50% ...
Excerpt from article: "Data from 155 recent publications indicate that COVID-19 vaccines continue to reduce the risk of severe disease across all ages, including among individuals with underlying medical conditions. Seasonal patterns of SARS-CoV-2 remain difficult to anticipate because epidemiologic trends depend on the emergence of new variants, waning immunity, and population dynamics, among other factors.173 Evidence suggests that even in the context of cocirculation of variants outside the JN.1 lineage, such as BA.3.2, vaccination continues to provide measurable benefit against severe infection. Vaccine effectiveness is generally highest for children and older adults, who also have the highest baseline risk of COVID-19–related hospitalization. Estimates of VE from the most recent 2025-2026 season demonstrate that COVID-19 vaccination (LP.8.1-adapted vaccines) are associated with significant reductions in the risk of COVID-19–related deaths, hospitalizations, and emergency department/urgent care visits among adults, generally reducing the risk of these events by half, which is consistent with the effectiveness reported since vaccines were updated to target new variants (JN.1 lineage) in 2023."
