Late night at the art studio
In this digital painting, a girl is working on a collection of oil paintings of a tiger late at night in an art studio. A real tiger jumps straight out of the biggest canvas onto the floor in front of her, and she draws back in surprise! The girl has brown hair, brown skin, and a blue painting T-shirt that says "Save Earth" and is covered in paint marks. She is wearing casual clothes, and has clearly been on a late deadline!

Today's been spotting: A buff-tailed bumblebee
A fat bumblebee perching on a purple flower. He is black but has an orange stripe on his upper thorax, then a second orange stripe on his mid abdomen, and his tail and the top of his head is white

"The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight." I made a "Yellow Wallpaper" piece back in 2017, but I re-read the story over the weekend and wanted to try again. Much happier with this version 🖤
illustration inspired by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's 1891 short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" depicting a woman touching sickly yellow torn wallpaper on a wall while shadowy hands reach toward her. There is another tall shadow of a figure on the wall and both figures look toward the viewer.

Reading an old book from my early teen days, kept this book around for over a decade now. Rereading it as an adult, with lived experience and developed critical thinking skills, it’s extremely interesting. Particularly in how I can pinpoint exactly which parts of the book influenced my personality 😂

Latourell Falls. The rock wall to the right of the falls is covered in beautiful golden lichen (Pleopsidium flavum). #WaterfallWednesday #Oregon #hiking #waterfalls #photography #PNW #lichens
A tall, narrow waterfall cascades over a rocky ledge. Golden lichen (actually a lime green color) covers a significant portion of the face of the rock wall to the right of the falls. Green leaves from big leaf maple obscure part of the view. Trees grow on the cliff at the top of the falls.

March theme: When Life Gives You Lemons... WAYNE THIEBAUD (1920 – 2021), “Cut Meringues”, 1961. Museum of Modern Art, New York City US. #arthistory #art #Lemons #PopArt
MO Wayne Thiebaud was the G.O.A.T. at capturing the essence of delicious food products. His pies, cakes, ice creams, etc. are luscious and tempting: I can almost smell them! Best of all, zero calories. Thiebaud was a Californian, through and through, and his paintings capture the light and zeitgeist of 20th century living on the West Coast. Considered a Pop artist, Thiebaud’s subject matter is straightforward – like Warhol’s soup cans – but his handling of paint is not the usual Pop Art visual. Thiebaud used thickly applied paint to create painterly versions of delectable meringue pies in “Cut Meringues”. He used color – not quite black and not quite white – to create shadows and dimension and repetition to forge a geometric pattern that looks as good as it undoubtedly tastes. So maybe Thiebaud’s message to us is that when life gives you lemons, whip up some lemon meringue pies!

At chili’s
Three panel comic. Panel 1: an emo kid is sitting at the table in a casual restaurant with his family, who seem chipper and normal. He is staring intensely at another table. Panel 2: an emo girl is also sitting at a different table with her family, and staring back. Panel 3: their thought bubble connects to a shared dream where they are two badass wolf people madly in love, riding a motorcycle at night.

Nobody dared mess with a poet in medieval Ireland, because everyone knew that if you pissed off a poet they'd mock you so hard that your family would be embarrassed for generations. It's great to see Afroman bringing that tradition back to life.

This image is a meme using characters from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to express a strong opinion on labor strikes within the video game industry.
The first character asks if game developers should strike.
The second character responds that all exploited workers should strike.
The first asks if this is true even if it disrupts the industry.
The second emphasizes that it should happen especially if it causes disruption.

A penanggalan is a monster in Malaysian folklore, created when a witch meditates during a ritual bath in vinegar. It gives her the ability to detach her head, organs, and entrails from her body. The penanggalan flies around at night, sucking people's blood. #WyrdWednesday
