Wei Ying had only deactivated his bio chip two years before he disappeared. It wouldn't be exactly like Wei Ying was when he vanished; two years of memories would be missing, but it would be close. Lan Zhan could make do with close. He lived 13 years without him, waiting for the miracle that would return his best friend to him. This would have to be that miracle.

In a desperate bid for closure, Lan Zhan uses AI technology to bring back his best friend, and it works... kind of. It doesn't actually work.

The black gym bag fell heavily onto the mattress, and he dug around in the front pocket for the burner Agent Xiao had given him when he first agreed to work with the Bureau of Cultivation on taking down the Jin Sect.
