iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Before anyone comes for me, all activism is valid and these spaces are so important, especially for disabled folks, I just personally don't have enough spoons to hand hold recently activated folks the way I used to

I'm thrilled so many people are finally getting serious about how dangerous this man and his agenda are but it's exhausting to watch y'all ride on this emotional rollercoaster we've already been on for almost a decade

100 1

I'm sure it seems like apathy to those that only know me in online spaces but I've been spending more time with my family and community and less time on social media because that's where I can take the most meaningful action right now

100 1

A lot of y'all are experiencing the terror and shock so many of us went through back in 2016 and it's hard to watch without getting enraged about that specific neglect. I struggle to take your anger seriously now when you ignored ours then

It's death by a thousand cuts and all those cuts are disappearing bodily autonomy and safety regulations

They want us too exhausted to fight back and I hate how much it's already working

On this note, has anyone downsized this much out of financial necessity without losing their mind completely? My partner and I are in a difficult place and are looking at options that don't involve giving all our money to a bank or a landlord

The bad news is that I'll almost assuredly lose my benefits and insurance. Silver lining, there's nothing stopping me from marrying my straight cis partner. We'll have a wonderful few months of hiding in the closet together before we're completely broke and I die a painful slow death

"Democratizing comics with AI" Buddy literally no one is stopping you from making comics but yourself. Allow yourself to be vulnerable enough to make something without the fear of failure. Your ability to make art is inherent to your human soul

Johnnie Jae has some awesome stuff in her shop! Including men's, kids', and women's plus sizes! I love her traditional designs, but I'm also coveting this one.

A woman wearing a curvy-fit black t-shirt with a dancing skeleton in the middle of two slightly overlapping circles (pink and yellow so the center is a salmon-pink colour. In an arc around the dancing skeleton line drawing are the words "My body is a money pit" in a gothic-style all-capital font.

This is one of those things that everyone needs to share with their non-terminally-online friends, especially in swing states. A lot of the news filters these things as if they're some sort of polite debate between political parties, but people need to see how truly fucked up the Republicans are.

PLEASE look into this shittiness, y’all! (Power Rangers voice) It’s organizing time!

Once those things are out of the way I'm going to share a lot more of the story as it happens

010 1

Thank you so much for sharing! I have no idea how this is going to go but I'll try to keep everyone updated here as much as possible. I'm dealing with a lot of unrelated house and car stuff so I haven't been able to give this the time and energy I would like this last week

It's called the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project and it's being carried out by a DC/New Jersey based power company called PSEG and it requires federal approval so this is going to be a whole thing

021 2

The local community takes all the risk, gives up valuable multi generational farm land for pennies, and still has to deal with regular blackouts. They're not offering any kind of carrot here, it's purely a stick situation

When I asked the same rep what we get out of this deal this guy said that once this infrastructure is in place it will entice more investors to strengthen our grid in the future. So, we're supposed to just roll over because of a future 'maybe' lol, nope

I asked how they expected any of the locals to know about a meeting that wasn't publicized and he quickly deflected

I asked one of the company reps why they didn't notify anyone about the meeting, the sole purpose of which was for the affected residents, and they told me they weren't legally obligated so they chose not to bother

We met up with my dad in the parking lot and he said that, like me, he had only heard about the project and subsequent meeting through a concerned friend

111 1

It gets even more ridiculous though because as it turns out this is a PRIVATE project that spans the entire state from DC to PA and the local grid wouldn't benefit one single iota. They want to build giant transformers on private land so they can send more power to server warehouses in DC

111 1

There wasn't enough room in the building and the fire department had to come out to handle the overflow. We waited over an hour in line to get in to talk to a company rep. I had read over everything on their project website and came with a list of questions they were not prepared to answer
