So I did the deed and got a golf cart (for many, many reasons). And honestly, it's one of the coolest little transportation devices around. The way drivers treat & respect a 25 mph speed-limited golf cart vs a 25 mph speed-limited eBike is mind-blowing.

Possibly the first SB79 project in existence is a proposal to turn an old motel on .38 acres of land near the California Avenue Caltrain Station in Palo Alto into a 76 apartments. 200 units per acre, on a parcel where housing was not previously allowed. We absolutely love to see it!

They erased part of the bike lane on Park Blvd. Now it dead ends in the middle of traffic. Because despite the gaslighting about safety, the city prioritizes the level of service for cars in intersections over safety even in the middle of a park. #sandiego

Here is the proposed map from City Staff on areas of San Diego eligible for SB 79 after July 1, 2026. The 4 bus stops are a new addition following the state's clarification of SB 79. City Council will vote on exempting May 7. And vote on an alt implementation plan Fall 2026 for exempt areas.

This is such an important point about speed cameras. We have overwhelming data that the vast majority of drivers quickly learn where they are and adjust their driving habits to avoid getting ticketed. This makes them a bad way to generate ticket revenue but a super effective way to reduce speeding

See a lot of folks weirdly gatekeeping on this: bikes, scooters, skateboards, rollerblading, wheelchairs, hoverboards, those weird shoes with the wheels built in… electrified or acoustic are all valid forms of mobility! Including new weird stuff we haven’t invented yet. Let people people!
