It took me a 3rd watch of “Wake Up Dead Man” to notice that Josh Brolin’s performance is absolutely BONKERS good. There’s not a dud in the bunch, but his made me utterly forget the actor so much that I didn’t consider the performance at all the first couple times. I think that’s neat.

Katie Mack is one of my very favorite cosmological thinkers, and has some really nice local-cluster thoughts too. Like this one! Also, it’s a quote, but she was the first person I ever heard suggest that one “wear their convictions lightly” and that has been enormously helpful software to install.

I have a woodworking project that I will now begin to share with strangers on the internet. Here is but a teaser. An appetizer for the forthcoming incomplete recollection of the process so far, which will eventually and mercifully conclude with an inexpertly staged photograph of the finished piece.

A whole lot of rough cut lumber in the back of a sedan-sized hatchback, sticking out the end, inviting one to consider “how in the fuck are they going to get that closed?”

A chunky piece of rough cut walnut is being fed through an edge jointer machine, inviting one to consider “they must have successfully transported that wood to the shop despite their vehicle ill-suited to the task”

I’m just going to say that AOC is the acting leader of the Democratic Party until someone proves otherwise. At least insofar as she is responding to the moment with leadership.
