Grimly funny that GPEW managed about 6 months of serious improvement and then decided that was quite enough and it was time to step on every rake going, good work folks, there's only a climate crisis and rising fascism, nobody needed a successful party of climate action and social liberalism

Cons: >Opening new oil/gas fields >Palestine Action still a “terrorist organisation” >Not doing enough to protect trans people (eg. amending equality act, gender recognition reform, unbanning puberty blockers) >STILL hasn’t banned conversion “therapy” yet

Pros: >Overtook Reform in the polls >Sanctions against illegal Israeli settlements >Restrictions on right-to-buy >VAT removed on energy bills >Promises of future electoral reform >National care service (depends on what it *actually* is) >VAT cut from energy bills >£2 bus fare cap

current Burnham-o-meter 🧵 Overall doing quite a good job (certainly compared to his predecessors) but still work to be done. See thread for my reasoning.
A bar going from green (very positive) to red (very negative) with 4 sections in between, the indicator is currently in the “mostly positive” section.

This is good, important reporting. If the situation were reversed though, I doubt 'Terrorist attack' would be in quotation marks. The Guardian would be perfectly comfortable calling it what it is in the headline.

more people using buses will probably decrease the price of petrol for people who need it anyway since less of it’ll be getting used up by others

Glasgow's drug consumption room has dealt with 195 medical emergencies since it opened last year. It saves lives. Drug addiction and misuse is a health crisis. We need a major expansion of harm reduction and treatment services, including safe consumption facilities.
The National. Experts reject attacks on The Thistle and call for bolder drug death action. Experts have agreed that drug consumption rooms like The Thistle are "without a doubt" saving lives.

God this is so embarrassing
SNP minister Tom Arthur is now concluding for the Scottish Government.

He says: "We are in the early days of a parliamentary term where it is quite possible that artificial intelligence will be something that we will have to contend with, and I do not think it is hyperbolic or an exaggeration to say that this may be one of the most profound moments, not just in recent history but in human history, where we have developed technology which is cognitively equal to us, if not superior to us."

MSPs are debating tackling violence against women & girls. Reform have dismissed the assault of a young woman at their conference with 'She shouldn't have been there'. We've heard that before. She shouldn't have walked down that dark street. She shouldn't have worn that. Victim blaming at its worst

We will not let them redefine Britain as angry, isolated and afraid. Britain should be liberal, internationalist and a beacon of democracy - a country that leads the world, not one that retreats from it. We want Britain. Not Trump’s oligarchic America with a Union Jack stuck on it.

I get it would be weird if it was just the children, of course. But the focus of the video is around the mayor and his support for Jewish New Yorkers, so it seems perfectly appropriate to make a comment about how he is sometimes misconstrued by people as an antisemite.

YouGov certainly seems to think they tend to vote Green more frequently, and pro-indy parties overall at that (assuming degree-holders have similar politics as degree-hopefuls which seems likely)

Scotland needs a watertight ban on cruel and abusive conversion practices. Today, the SNP has further delayed this ban, instead relying on the UK Government to introduce a watered-down version that might not even affect Scotland. Greens are demanding the SNP act now to protect LGBTQ+ people.
