Before the referendum, Farage lied we need Brexit to be closer to the Commonwealth. Now we hear that Canada could become the EU’s first associate member and Australia is also seeking deeper ties with the EU. This is the reality of post-Brexit Britain. Present everywhere, but belonging nowhere.

Reform says it wants to take us back to “the country that was”. What a lie. They want to tear up institutions this country helped create, turn our backs on Europe and abandon the international order we helped build. That isn’t patriotism. It’s national vandalism.

It costs roughly £200K to show an ad to every adult in the UK on Insta, Facebook, X & Google. With £72m in crypto donations, Reform now has enough money to repeat this every week until 2029. Dodgy ads already shaped Brexit, we can't afford to let it happen again. We need to scale up our fight.

This is for people who might be disappointed that Count Binface lost in Clacton. Please don't. He won just 95 votes against Andy Burnham in Makerfield. In Clacton, he got nearly 100 times as many against Farage. Take that as a signal. Get your hopes up. Let's band together for the next fight.

Much of the coverage of the Clacton by-election has focused on Nigel Farage's self-serving and malign reasons for making this happen. But there is another part of the story that deserves attention: the severe deprivation experienced by some of the people living in the constituency.

People feel disconnected from democratic process not only because gov'ts sometimes fail to deliver, but because they do not feel seen or represented, understand how decisions are made, or see how political choices shape their lives. For our democracy to recover, we must make that change happen.

Findings from focus groups before the Makerfield by-election pointed at several things voters wanted to see Andy Burnham do when he was elected. It's refreshing to see he has already delivered on one of these.
Screenshot from the More in Common website at https://www.moreincommon.org.uk/research/makerfield/

Reads: The “Makerfield Test” starts with the cost of living: Burnham’s own “Makerfield Test” will be judged first on tangible improvements to people’s quality of life. Voters cited the Greater Manchester bus fare cap unprompted as proof he can deliver, and want to see more of this on a national scale.
